Same Problem here, freezes every day.

I turned off UI-Scaling, after someone pointed that out, but that didn't help.

My Setup:

iMac late 2013 16gb memory
newest version of OSX (10.9.4)

Running mostly two clients, sometimes three in window mode. It is always only one client wich freezes.
I am using optimized graphic settings.

It is really annoying, when the fight just starts over, and you stuck cause of a damn freeze. Already lost several Ships on that way.

Please help!

Edit: Just recognized, that the problem often happens, when I close a client. The other open Client crashes nearly instantly after closing another...

The freeze that you are encountering when closing one client may be fixed by using clonemaker to set up multiple clients. Please check here for instructions.

I want to state that I am still looking into this issue but as Vincent mentioned it's very hard to track down.

Maybe its time to take out the big hammer and squish this problem.

The easiest way to observe this problem is to see it on a computer where it is happening. CCP Sledgehammer, if you do not have a computer at CCP that has this bug, maybe you need to go to one that does. If that means getting your passport in order and flying internationally, then do it. That effort may, in the long run, be less costly than anything else you could do.

That solved at least the problems, when I am closing a client, but I still get random crashes.
I have no bit torrent running, so this can't be the problem.

Yup, I'm having the same problem, I don't recall this issue when I was playing back in late 2013 but now I get lots of crashes. Bordering on unplayable.

Same here, left eve for three months, came back only to see this.

Seems to be a mouse pointer issue for me, though: it usually happens when the cursor wants to change its shape, but can't and results in it remaining the same while everything else becomes completely unresponsive to its movements. Expected Hyperion to fix this but it didn't. Had no such problems earlier this year.

Very disappointing, can't imagine moving to 0.0 with my client randomly freezing UghSad

Solved my freezing by not running Vuze in the background. Also blowing air over the top of my Mac mini case helps.

So pity that they haven't found any solution for that problem since 2011. I've tried everything on my mac but it's still completely unplayable.

Step 1: Log into your toon
Step 2: Hit escape and go to the CHAT tab
Step 3: Under VOICE SETTINGS uncheck EVE VOICE ENABLED
Step 4: $$$$$
Step 5: Play eve with no crashes

This is what worked for me. I was having hard client crashes every 20 min almost to where the game was unplayable.
Did steps 1-5 and havnt crashed once in over a week. Good luck to all.

Travis' solution actually seems to work! No freezes today at all since disabling EVE Voice. Someone at CCP should look in to what's causing this...

Turning off eve voice has been reported before as helping. But some still get crashes even with it off. What seems to be a common thread in all crashes: Internet access by anything on your computer other than the basic client.

Torrents do it.
Eve voice can do it.
I have even seen opening up a browser lock up my client.\

Note that some of this activity may be invisible to you, and hard to turn off, like the OS looking for updates. But the take-away is: Cleaner your setup, and the lower the activity it does, lower a chance you will lock up.

The only thing that helped me was switching from CIDER to WINE. Every now and then I log on with official EVE launcher via CIDER, jus to see if the newest release solved anything.

At the moment - nothing works better than WINE.

I am having the same issues as above. I am constantly freezing. What intrigues me is that the frozen client seems to continue to send out information. If i have my pilot on auto, and it freezes... i can leave it there and he continues about his merry way like i'm actually controlling him. If I am mining ice or something to that effect, everything continues as if the freeze never happened.

I have also experienced where my clients won't freeze but like once for an entire day, or just one will freeze over and over.... really odd and difficult to pin down behavior. but all through this thread I didn't see anyone mentioning that it seemed to keep in contact with the server, and the video seems to be the only thing frozen (at least for my freezes).

Most people probably don't notice because they instantly close the client... but I was curious a few times, and have actually left an orca boosting for an hour or so "crashed" because I didn't want to bother reloading the client, and it was perfectly safe at the time.

What you are seeing IS the classic client freeze we have been having for last few years. Frame rate drops to zero, and the client becomes unresponsive, but your ship sails on. Other versions of the freeze have crept into this thread as the classic one seems to be somewhat reduced, and replaced by crashes, and hard freezes that lock up your entire computer.

The main thing you can do to reduce the number of these freezes: stop any other internet access by apps running on your computer by anything other than the client. This includes:
Torrents (the single biggest issue). This alone may solve the issue for you.
Eve voice.
Any other voice app.
Web browser.
Anything else you have running that accesses the internet.

Edit: Also: add memory to your Mac. This may be a memory leak, or page fault issue.

Well, i have 32GB of memory, so I'm not thinking thats the problem...

I have also noticed that if I close down EVERY PROGRAM before launching eve, it seems to crash less. This is 24 hours with no notable freezes. AFTER eve was up, I was able to re-launch my chat applications and even my web browsers, and everything seems to be working great... but only if I open by stuff AFTER i open eve.

Not sure if that helps the devs figure it out or not, but I know when i'm troubleshooting a problem, the smallest pieces are appreciated.

I have to do this with Mumble when playing other games: they crash on launch if it's already open, but if I open it after they launch they're OK.

I wonder if it has a similar, but less immediate, effect on EVE?
