Constantly freezing up

This is still happening to me in Odyssey, same as before.

A question for the crowd -- does the freeze happen while you're using the client, or only when you switch to other apps?

I ran in a fleet for well over an hour tonight with no issues, cmd-tabbed over to a browser window, came back and was frozen. This is pretty much *always* the case for me, I can't think of a time when I've frozen up while active using the client.

I have had this problem only when Safari is up. It is intermittent tho, and usually happens when I switch from EVE to Safari and back a few time.

With Safari closed and Firefox open no problems exist. Also IGB browser almost looks like it tries to open Safari in EVE, as the whole EVE window looses focus when opening the IGB. Requiring multiple clicks to get the EVE client back in focus.

This is usually how it happens; however, it can happen just in-game as well.

A note to those who are unaware:
These crashes are caused by a memory leak that was introduced in Crucible (I... think it was Crucible). It has yet to be tracked down, and while there is no fix for it, it is entirely possible to manage it and keep your computer from freezing.

MF2 will display your current RAM usage in the menu bar as a pie chart. Green is free memory, blue is inactive memory. As EVE runs idly, the blue section will slowly fill up. If you have no more green (free) memory left, EVE will hang. When you see your free memory is running low and the blue inactive memory is filling up, click the Free Now button (which you will usually have to restart MF2 to activate, for whatever reason).

Since installing MF2, I have never had the game hang on me in this fashion.

I have had multiple issues and since the last patch the game freezes over 90% of the time within 10 seconds, rendering the game unplayable. After reading through various threads it is obvious that it is a known issue and despite CCP's remedy of sticking their head in the sand it looks like this issue isn't going away.

I have requested a refund from Steam for selling a game that simply doesn't work on Mac, I suggest others follow suit and that way someone may look into the issue eventually or do what they ought to do currently which is to pull it from the MAC shelves as it isn't fit for purpose.

This now happens every time I open EVE. Client screen will just freeze randomly, does not effect any other process running, and never creates a log. Corp mates still say I'm logged in but the EVE client is completely frozen. Only way to get it back is to force quit and reload. And even then sometimes I get locked out at the login screen it will just sit there and say Authenticating.... If that happens I can't even login to play, and have to wait a few minutes before I can try it again.

I'm running MF2, and still getting the same crashes.

I'm also now getting crashes while the client is active, which really sucks. Massive fleet battle tonight, major timer for my alliance, and I can't even fit my ship without the client locking up.

For the time being I'm running Eve in Parallels. It's about a thousand times more stable.

I resubbed today to hope that this exact problem everyone is talking about which I experienced 4 months ago would be fixed, however no luck and still get freezes same as before, absolutely random, stable internet connection throughout.. sad they are not making this a priority.

I disagree

Pre Odyssey I had no problem on my 2010 MB Pro running Snow Leopard. After Odyssey I began experiencing this lock-up while in full screen exactly as others have described, I have to restart the entire computer.

I just updated to a brand new Macbook Pro and now it's locking up with only the mouse movable even more than under Snow Leopard. Where do we need to file a support ticket to encourage CCP to look into this?

update: it's locking up in windowed mode too. at least I can force quit it and don't have to reboot but it's not really playable.

I installed bootcamp with windows 7 and ran EVE.. graphic settings were set a lot of higher from installation and seems more stable but guess what happens in the first 2 minutes.. freeze.

Not sure what to do now as the game is now freezing in both mac and windows

I disagree

I just had a hang with about a quarter of the memory showing as green (free). I had two clients running and was using one when it froze. I was docked and moving cargo.

Been receiving this issue for over a week. Bug report only filtered but not fixed. I refuse to clear all my UI settings and everything daily. It takes over an hour to setup mine.

Confirming that running a torrent client with a torrent download active still universally crashes the EVE client. I now have to either do all my downloads during the night or when at work or not have torrents running at all if I want to play EVE.

That memory free app does not seem to help. Ive had it lock up twice with plenty of green, free memory. And right now I am playing and have Firefox running, with no green showing (22 mb out of 8 gig) and.. its not locking up.

Yeah, I can confirm that there is always plenty of memory left over. Torrents make EVE freeze almost instantly but sometimes it freezes without torrents (not that often on mine).
