mid 2011 15'' MBP, w/ 8GB of RAM.

Game freezes randomly. But with a much higher chance if new clients login (i'm basically always multiboxing)
Usually 2 clients run pretty stable (not 100% of the time though)
As soon as I get 3+ up and running, the chance is very high all clients freeze on login of a new client.
If they don't they just freeze randomly without any specific action being performed.

Game freezes every 10-15 hours of gameplay in full window! tbh never tried the window mode...

After a crash yesterday my client doesn't even load after i double click it Sad

I don't know what's causing the more sudden freezes, but this one is probably due to the fact that the EVE client has a memory leak (as of Inferno, anyway... I haven't performance-monitored the Retribution client). It's a good idea to dock up, quit, and relaunch every few hours.

As for the freezes, I'll see if the Retribution update changed anything, but I started getting 10-20 second freezes at random over the last week or so. The client eventually unfreezes, but the experience is unnerving, especially when I'm under fire.

Its really sad, that this has been an issue for so long now, and it doesn't seem to get fixed at all.
From my business experience only the smallest amount of ppl even makes the effort to post on forums or submit tickets or any of the sort. Nevertheless this Thread is at page four already, so it seems that a considerable portion of players has problems with this.

Even I have had issues for about at least half a year now, and only went to post on the forums now.

I would really appreciate a fix fast, it sucks basically not being able to play the game properly on OS X :-(

MBPr (Retina) (15")
OS X 10.8.2
16GB RAM
512 SSD

I ran into this issue running 3 clients in windowed mode (1680x1050). Only my main client froze on a consistent basis (about every 15 minutes) I messed with all graphics settings from perfomance, to memory to quality and changing a few things here and there.

I was eventually able to run just fine (with max settings) except for shadows. I turned those off entirely. So far I'm running just fine but I'll be pushing it harder throughout the evening.

Have fun!

I run 2-3 clients in windowed mode and prior to retribution patch i experienced no crashes. However, since the patch and following patch fixes, I have experienced crashes/freezes. I run a new Macbook pro with Mountain Lion. Recently this 'bug' has had significant consequences and I now really really would appreciate a fix.

I have also noted that the clients freeze, but do not disconnect the accounts from the server. I observed this while having to force close the frozen client, all the while watching it linger in space until I force closed it. Straight after, the client that remained froze...

I have had one freeze so far with the latest expansion. It happened when I had 3 clients running and, after being quiet for a few minutes, someone talked on TS.

So ti still seems to be associated with internet access occurring at the same time as the client is running, and multiple clients increase the chances it will happen.

Running 2 clients I freeze up randomly on both accounts.

Running 1 idem, just by doing nothing. I do use EVE Cloner, maybe that's it?

Memory 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

Been a long time for me to encounter the Mac client in this kind of poor shape. :(
But I know you boys & girls will fix it. :)

EDIT: I had a torrent running in the back, forgot about that. Maybe Vincent is onto something.

Torrent is a known trigger for freezes. Its one of the worst ones.

I'm getting freezes every 10–15 minutes too, randomly.

Doesn't matter what I'm doing ingame. The screen freezes and stops responding, but I can still hear the game running in the background. All I can do is force-quit with CMD-ALT-ESC.

Disabling ingame sound makes the freezes go away almost entirely. I still get perhaps one freeze a day.

I had this exact same problem the last time I played, back in 2011, with an entirely different Mac…. :|

I'm running the 15" Retina Macbook Pro, Mountain Lion, everything up to date, no special sound hardware or software.

I am having the exact same freezing issue. Incredibly frustrating.

For me, it would nearly only freeze in stations or when jumping thru systems in big fleets.

I have narrowed the causes down to some effects used in stations, probably related to the reflections, which I fixed using low settings for stations; and for the jumps, believe it or not, using higher video settings seems to work better than lower ones, and the combination that seems to work the best is the default set.

The thing about the stations settings is it has separated video settings only for when in stations, so you either have to make sure to set THOSE to low or disable the station completely by using the static background. Which I find to be the best, since it makes docking and undocking instant :D

It is also true that using specific overview and bracket settings to clean up a lot of the excess data on screen (like the brackets for every single ship and drone in your fleet) has made a lot of difference.

I hope this helps more people :) since it was driving me mad.

Edit: added details about the station settings.

(The graphics settings are set at an absolute minimum)

Eve is unplayable like this, as it rarely goes 15 minutes without freezing. The issue has been going on for over a year now if I recall correctly. A fix would be much appreciated.

Freezing on MBP2010 10.8.2, 8GB RAM.

Freezes seem to be related to system or memory load.

Running video/photoshop/aperture/torrent in the background makes the client freeze within minutes.
Running only EVE works mostly fine. Sometimes doesn't freeze at all.

Happens with single-client, windowed or full-screen.
Happens even more with multi-client.

Both happen more when other apps are running.

Much worse since Retribution.

Crashes at random intervals, really annoying. I understand that the game doesn't run natively as its using the Cider wrapper, but still, one would think that you guys at CCP got at least a few dedicated OS X developers as you're advertising the game as Mac compatible.

If you guys need a log dump or whatever, let us know, as I'm sure all the other folks would be glad to help get the game run properly.

Well, 3 freezes in 90 mins last night and now 3 again this morning in 120 mins.

This is the worst I've had it in 18 months.

Bug reported, and I'm updating the petition every time I freeze now, as for months I haven't bothered complaining, but , for me, it's got to a ridiculous level.

Reply received from ccp :

I've suffered this occasionally for a while but today it has got a bit out of hand and has happened four times in the last four hours.

I run five clients on the same Mac, windowed at 1024x768.

Model Identifier: iMac11,3
Processor: 3.2 Ghz Intel Core i3
Memory: 12 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB
Software: Mac OS X 10.7.5 (11G63b)

Typically I'll be mining in a fleet. So all five clients are fleeted, and the frozen client still appears in the fleet until i "Force Quit" it.

If it happens to my Orca pilot, then even though his client is frozen the others can happily put ore into the Orca's Fleet Hangar.

This has really been driving me nuts but I think I may have found something that at least helps. It seems if I do not have Fusion open running Windows the freezes aren't happening. I haven't played enough to be definitive yet but the other day I was freezing every hour and today I got a lot of time with two clients open and no freezes with Fusion shut down.

Of course....now I have to figure out how to replace Evemon (which is usually the only reason why I have Fusion running).

Getting the freezes as well. Torrenting does cause it to freeze up more regularly, as does photoshop, movies, etc.

iMac 27" Mid 2011 (3.4GHz i7)
8GB RAM
10.8.2
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

I sort of wonder if the client (or Cider) is trying to write to memory that doesn't belong to it and then freezing up when it isn't allowed to.

Anyhow, I have my cider hanglong available if you'd like me to send it along.

I figured I'd put my name in here too. I'm also having the issue with Mac client. I am able to run in Windows7 on the same box no problem, but there are a great many applications that I use in OS X and I'm unable to really use my machine well because the client constantly freezes in OS X. I was on for several hours today and it freezes every 5-10 minutes usually. It seemed like the first time I ran it, it worked well for a while as I performed 20 something jumps before the first crash. Then, after it crashes it continues to crash every 5 minutes or so.

Please fix this issue - it's been going on for over a year and there's go to be some kind of memory issue. I use Maya and Photoshop, so perhaps reproduce steps are to just open the client, then fill up memory in the computer. Then search Jita's markets or jump a few times. I hope something can be fixed regarding this issue, I'll keep watching this thread and the patch notes. Please don't forget about us Mac users!
