I just tested my method for triggering a freeze and un-freezing it. Its back. I can at will freeze the client, and bring it back. As I do not get spontaneous freezes I have no idea if my un-freeze method will work for those that do.

Would someone who gets freezes spontaneously please try my un-freeze method? All you do is open the launcher, then close it by clicking the red go-away button on the window.

No success for me, game stays frozen.

See thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=106499&find=unread for tips on how to reduce your chances to crash.

I have a lover, her name is EVE. I see her every night and all she asks in return is that I have a pilot's license.

Yep, didn't do anything. Had to force quit.

Oh well, I guess there is more than one type of freeze. Worth a shot. Thanks.

Every time the client freeze then force quit and reopen again, the character thumbnail pic won't load

I 'v tried to clear cache, the pic load back

BUT until the next time client freeze, pic never load again, it have to clear cache again, and looping...

I think the problem between client freeze and pic won't load have some kind of connection.

I can clear the cache and get pics to load for about an hour. Then they stop. But no crash.

I've managed to get a working game, I don't know what did it but I updated to 10.7.4 and stumbled upon the following settings for graphics.

So far I've had it running for a few hours in active play, it may still have issues later but it's a significant step over the 1min run time before. I also have it windowed and running other apps seemingly has no effect, I even ran some torrents and that wasn't a problem either. Some one braver can play with it more to narrow down the issue, I'm not touching another thing :)

I tried all low settings (prior to 10.7.4) and that did not work but now I can't reliably say 10.7.4 didn't effect something, so your milage may vary.

I've just installed sisi to test new mods and effects … I had 1 freeze and 2 "sudden-quit" in half an hour
… I wished they solved something, apparently not :I

I think it is getting worse. It used to be random freezes only. But lately it seems it is both freezing and crashing more frequently. It also seems to freeze more often when jumping and when opening a market/asset/bookmark window though that might just be randomness playing a trick on me.

FYI, EVE gets wobbly when torrent clients are running on all platforms. It doesn't like sustained network activities generally, but it really doesn't work with torrents.

Hi,

I'm having same problem. Still no answer?

Version: Inferno #1.
Configuration: MacBookPro8.1. i7 2.8gz. 8g RAM.
EVE graphics configured for performance.

Problem happens both while full screen mode and window mode, but I noticed couple of things:

- it happens more often if I'm alt-tabbing than if not (but it will happen anyway).
- If I change opengl configuration (~/Library/Preferences/EVE\ Online\ Preferences/config):

"DynamicVBO" = "N"
"IndexVBO" = "N"

problem is not gone but happens less often.

Yesterday installed the patch with no problems. Played for an hour, perhaps a bit more with no visible lags and freezing. Docked to the station and entered CQ, sat on the sofa and total freeze, which made me to force shut down my iMac.

No torrents, no browsers, nothing worked in background except Skype.

Was hoping this would be solved with Inferno but no such luck. I have had three freezes tonight already. This problem lives in some code that was introduced in Crucible and it is probably here to stay for ever.

Noticed yesterday that after hitting "warp", client sometimes freezed for about 20-60 sec. First I thought I was getting dc'd because the effects were similar. I could still spin my camera around and my ship was going forward but couldn't write to chat or open any windows. After freeze stopped ship suddenly started warping. So basically I think I was just sitting in space for that period of time aligning out. Makes eve pretty much unplayable. Same freeze was happening in stations as well. Clearing cache & all settings helped for a while but then it started happening again.

Had EVE freeze on me three times in the last hour, even after a full reboot. Same story; music skips, mouse moves, force quit.

Edit: and again, after taking a break for a few hours. Froze within 5 minutes, this time while in the middle of docking.

News??? Hah!

This bug has been persistent (on and off) for atleast a year now. I would be very surprised if anything is ever going to change.
They should probably just stop the damn mac client if they can't or won't make it work like it is supposed to.
