I can't even run the EVE client or download it, so no need to worry about another patch

Makes no difference for me. With a torrent client or stuff downloading the game can run smoothly anywhere between 2 mins and 2 hours.

After a reboot and launching only finder and EVE it's the same, 2 mins or 2 hours - completely random, but always freezes.

I'm noticing a lot fewer crashes when I'm not running Vuze torrent client at the same time.

I'm not really worried about crashes: it's freezes that concern me.
When client crashes the server will detect it's no longer there and place ships safe; with these freezes ships warp to where they were warping, if that was what you were doing when the freeze occurred... meaning they might end up at the battle field with you not able to do anything (or see anything).

I know that for a fact: happened to me a few times.

BTW, I notice there are still no comments from CCP

I just (yesterday) resubed. First freeze was in fullscreen mode in station with station env turned on. I assumed it was a memory and turned off station env off, froze anyway. Now being a trained technician I started paying attention. I believe the first two freezes happened when attempting to start a private conversation. Next step was to turn all graphic settings to low, no effect. This time it froze trying to open my char sheet. I then turned off fullscreen mode in favor of windowed mode, no effect. Again froze when attempting a private convo. I then decided to check the forums and here we are. Launcher is patching now so we will see if this fixes the problem. If not I will be attempting to file a petition and get my plex back, my windows computer moves in sometime during april so I will just wait to resub again then.

Freezes are crashes too, and that's also what I ment in my previous post.

You did unfortunately Daniel or get bootcamp to run the Windows client. As apparently CCP is still too busy with Fanfest or whatever else to actually look into the problem. Again I said, get a Mac running from an outside network and quite easy to see.

As mentioned earlier someone else running torrent; if I turn uTorrent off, then the game won't freeze for over an hour. With it on can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, but freezes.

Also to confirm the game does Freeze - NOT Crash. I can switch screens running through AP in empire and the screen will be frozen in Hek (on the screen) - when I relog back in, I am in the station at my destination in Dresi. So it does not crash, it freezes and sometimes gives the broken record CD sound.

There is some possible overheating going on possibly or unrestrained calls to the CPU/GPU. When I have everything open on my Mac (except) Eve and I mean everything, I hear a little hum of the fan. When I load Eve with minimal things loaded like Finder, Safari, Outlook, and Word, after 10 seconds loading Eve - the fan winds up going until I switch or close Eve.

I have found the best to run in Windows mode, 1280x800 or something. That way when the game does Freeze, I can click on my little apple and Force Quit Eve. If running in full screen there is shti-all I can do, but turn the machine off to cold boot.

Still waiting for a patch that says something about Mac client, because after crucible 1.5 it is horribad for me.

You can also press CMD+alt+esc to force quit in full screen mode.

I just lost another ship to this stupid freezing. Petitioning doesn't help as it's not a server issue which are the only issues they will reimburse. It's time to track this issue down and fix it now CCP...

Got iMac 2011 model, game freezes in 1-3 hours playing. I've found some reasons, maybe it will be helpfull for CCP and players:
1) Game freezes after you minimize it to dock and it stays there a while (10-15 minutes enought usually)
2) Game freezes when torrent client launched (sometimes it even won't start if torrent launched before)

I have 12Gb RAM memory, so this is not memory issue. I have AMD Radeon Mobility 6750 videocard, so graphics should be normal. Damn I got 4 core proccessor, and still can't play EvE normally. CCP plz buy a Mac and test game on it!!! We pay you money for game, not freezed wallpaper.

Have any of you tried smcFanControl to keep the fans running at full speed? What about laptop users blowing air over/under the laptop with a desk fan?

If it was an overheating issue then I'm positive there would be other noticeable effects. If the CPU itself was overheating then the whole system would be having problems and if it was the GPU overheating then there would be some other graphical glitches in other games or applications.

In short, no, not an overheating issue. It's an issue with the EVE client.

reading replies i'm now even more sure it's a overheating issue ... as it was when Incarna landed.

I'm a diplomat. Sometimes i throw 425mm wide briefcases at enemy. Such is EVE.

Its really not. I'm using mac pro which has 4 huge fans and when you put it to the max, temperature drops to 20ish degrees celsius (although it sounds like a vacuum cleaner)
I still get the freezes

Well, this thread has been open since December 2011.
I have petitioned about the bug, petitioned asking for reimbursement of ships lost because of this bug, posted here, reported bug... CCP is just absent in all this, as if we all were talking about something they don't care about.

How many responses (apart from "have you tried clearing your cache") have you seen on this thread, for example?

I'm now forced to cancel my 4 subscriptions as I'm unable to play, after training some of my toons for over 4 years: saying I'm disappointed is an understatement!

It appears CCP's own is not the right forum to discuss this, though, as they don't even bother replying: I'll have to figure out where to post about this shameful behaviour.

The thing that annoys me is that I (like a lot of you guys) have an up to date machine with quad processors, GB's of RAM and 27' screens, yet with all that technology, EVE still cannot be stable? I asked Trebor on the CSM,( he is actually the Vice- Chair now and a Mac user ) for some input or to take ownership, but nothing definite there.
So if CCP doesn't respond and the Vice Chair of the CSM doesn't seem to be too fussed, where does that leave us- the mac users?
I have two options it seems, 1- install bootcamp and run windows, or 2- quit EVE.
That's the only two options I can see.

We need to figure out how to get you to option 3: Have eve work under OSX. I know its possible because that's how I run and I have not had a crash or freeze in weeks.

How can I help you get to where I am?
