Here iam wondering why a BlackOps cant fit a covert ops cloak at all. but can use the Covert ops bridge, and covert cyno's

CCP should fix this or its not really Black Ops at all.

Because they have jumpHarmonics 5, but don't belong to any of the ship groups 963, 830, 833, 834, or 1202.

Also, “Black” is not the same as “Covert”.

I've also always wondered the same thing.

The ship is extremely expensive, fragile compared to other battleships but unable to fit a covops cloak.

Doesn't make any sense.

I've often wanted to build a Widow but the fact that you cant warp stealthed puts too much money on the line.

My interests include but are not limited to throwing rocks at bee hives.

They'll probably get around to dealing with it when they rebalance the black ops in general. I guess the initial idea was "a battleship shouldn't warp cloaked" which kind of doesn't make sense since with Black Ops 3 or higher you can warp straight after dropping cloak if you were aligned.

I believe the black ops are a relic of the past when ships couldn't warp cloaked. Stealth bombers were fixed for that, but not black ops. It will be fixed soon...

Well all things considered, they're still battleships and the only thing actually changing would be them being cloaked while in warp. Right now they can decloak and warp immediately anyway.

(I would not take my chances with a gatecamp in a damn battleship anyway.)

Relic of the past. From the no solo-pwnmobile era. Even with abilty to warp cloaked they would be crap for solo ganking. They should rename them black ops industrial instead cus they're about as scary as a cloaky badger II. Battleship yeah right.

...how? Any blackops has the tank of a rookie ship that's fallen down the stairs. As soon as it decloaks out of warp, just sneeze on it and you should be fine. Not like it can avoid bubbles or insta-align either, so they won't exactly be hard to decloak.

Black ops also have no targetting dealy after declaoking which would make them kind of epic if they could fit a cov cloaks.

It's actually pretty useless idea since one does not just "warp" in a black ops. The peasant with a cyno warps and takes gates, you await his signal and jump on top of already caught prey to murder it and claim the killmail.

This is how 1% does it~

If black ops BS were able to covops cloak, they would be the best ship in the game and would be horribly unbalanced.

The decision to force them to use regular cloaks, but with the speed bonuses they get and the no targetting delay after decloak was one made to keep them balanced when they were first introduced.

The people who say black ops battleships need a covert ops cloak are the people that have never used a black ops battleship

Yes, cloaks aren't much needed when black ops are obsolete in all but bridging functions. Roll

A few of you keep saying this without justification. Why? Have you considered that:

  • Blackops have far weaker tanks than their regular counterparts
  • Blackops put out far less damage than their regular counterparts
  • Blackops cost much much more than their regular counterparts
  • Blackops battleships, unlike covops T3s, cannot dodge warp bubbles. Thus, despite theoretically sharing cloaking whilst warping, they'd be much easier to catch.
  • Blackops battleships, unlike bombers and blockade runners, warp sloooooooooowly. I mean sloooooooooooowly. Even if they cloaked and warped, they'd be so much easier to decloak and bump whilst aligning.

Well, they aren't all that much weaker, but yeah they do suffer in comparison to their base hull.

I don't think there would be much need to worry about them being caught at a gate... they really don't have much need to use them. And if they do without having a Stealth Bomber scouting for them they deserve to die. Smile

A Dev mentioned at Fanfest 2013 that there are no plans to allow the Black Ops to warp cloaked because it would make them overpowered. While Devs say a lot at Fanfests, this one did so while being sober. So, it is probably not a relic of the past but a conscious design decision.

On the internet, you can be whatever you want to be. It is amazing that so many people chose to be stupid.
