I think the fanfest audience should chorus:

Hey guys,

Apologies for the delay in responding to this thread! The run up to the launch of Rubicon next week has been pretty hectic for everyone here at CCP.

I've spoken with a few people, and this station is planned to be delivered before Fanfest 2014. It was put back from being deployed with Rubicon due to other development priorities, but is very much still on the radar and is something that we are of course committed to. It will hopefully be included in one of the point releases in the run up to Fanfest.

On a more personal note, you guys who'll get access to this station when it's released are all terrible due to the fact that I had 9 years and 5 months under my belt before I got hired by CCP and lost my characters, and only needed 7 more months before I got docking rights.

Yes, I'm jelly P

Quoting this post for context.

Back when it was made, development were looking into how to do this, and the time it would take vs the overall level of engagement that would come out of it.

It's been decided by our Development team that a Station is not the best use of resources.

That said, there'll be more information regarding this at the EVE & DUST Community Panel at Fanfest, as well as some time where we'll be discussing the idea of rewarding our long standing veterans, and taking suggestions on what people would like to see instead.

We'd like to hear you guys out, gather feedback, and see what the Community wants as a 10 year celebration of EVE in game.

So, come along to the EVE & DUST Community Panel at Fanfest 2014, and lets sit down and have a talk about what the best solution would be for rewarding our 10 year veterans.

I completely forgot that there was such station to be deployed. Anyways, I kinda think that there should be some kind of celebration for people who hit 5 and 10 year marks in the game. Perhaps bind it to SP, so that when you hit 100mil and 200mil something special comes available. Like some special frig/destroyer accessible only if one has 100mil sp and cruiser/BC if one has 200mil SP, and at 300mil one would get a special BS and 400mil a special Capital.

After all even a 5 year commitment to EVE enough to keep constantly training atleast, is not a small commitment. When I played WOW I got fed up with it in bit over a year. Same with Guild Wars, EVE is the first game that has held my attention for well over that.

Mind you, we players can handle the 10th anniversary station on our own. Take one nullsec outpost, and give the access only to the people who show they have enough SP to have been playing 10 or more years. We dont need CCP to make us a special station for the purpose. Similar solution can be done for 5 year players.

To be honest, this is a timely reminder that for all their claims that "we have changed", that CCP are still up to their old tricks.

A vet station is a horrible idea anyway. There is one in STO for those that are not aware, and everything about it is horrible.

Birthday gifts that increase in awesomeness ever year, retroactively awarded to current veteran accounts of course, seem like a much better way to reward long term players.

I want my vet station so me and all the other real eve players from back when eve was more than a gate camp simulator can grow old in-indignantly yelling abuse at the kids who step on the stations lawn.

Good. Bad idea cancelled.

What's to stop (I'm not reading the entire thread for the question/answer if it's already here because of vet tears a plenty and that **** gets old, what's to stop a noob douche from buying a character that is 10 yrs old and docking all the while having absolutely no frickin idea what he's doing?

CCP still hasn't learned that singling out individuals in this game with rewards often has unintended consequences that are far outweighing than the intended positives.

It's impossible to dump a random station in a random system with "X" docking restrictions?

It's far more complicated than doing that Smile

Yeah, I seem to be the bearer of all the bad news recently. Sorry about that.

I can provide a picture of my cats cuddling, to hopefully make you feel a little better.

We have to take the rough with the smooth though, and I'll be interested to hear suggestions at Fanfest!

It was supposed to be based on active account time, not character age. So even if you had a near 11 year old character but only been subbed for 9 you still would not be able to dock.

But as CCP is CCP that is no longer an issue.

aaawwww the cute kitties

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Oh I know it's slightly more complicated then that!

I'm by no means a programmer, I have enough issues with one language as it is. I have no intention to learning another
I'm just looking outside of the box here!

BUT!

If a player can literally drop a station themselves, which is permanent, then place restrictions on who can and cannot play inside it. I'm going to assume that a Dev can do the exact same in Highsec and restrict it to bittervet use only!

So basicly you ****** up, and didnt manage to actually come through with something to reward the vets.
The station thingy was actually one of those few cool ideas you guys have had to actually reward ppl for playing this game. (no, having lots of sp isnt a reward for those of you claiming that ;) )

Actually came up with the perfect 10 year rewardBig smile Give us the chance to change our chars to Jove chars =)

Come on falcon, i know even you miss seeing that old portrait of TomB on the forums Big smile

Is it really necessary that CCP Falcon takes the beating for this?

It would display much more character,
if the person who promised this station
came here and took the beating himself.

Like he deserves.
