So nothing to see here, standard CCP process. Make promises, deploy smoke, configure mirrors, wait a long period of time, distract with a new promise, rinse, repeat.

As someone with almost 40 years total subscription across your accounts, you shouldn't be surprised.

CCP has a reputation in the community of over committing and under delivering; offset by a tendency in the community to latch onto any statement as a fact rather than accepting that they can also just be aspirational and not really in planning when they are made.

My only surprise was when they said by this fanfest. Blink

Hey guys,

Apologies for the delay in responding to this thread! The run up to the launch of Rubicon next week has been pretty hectic for everyone here at CCP.

I've spoken with a few people, and this station is planned to be delivered before Fanfest 2014. It was put back from being deployed with Rubicon due to other development priorities, but is very much still on the radar and is something that we are of course committed to. It will hopefully be included in one of the point releases in the run up to Fanfest.

On a more personal note, you guys who'll get access to this station when it's released are all terrible due to the fact that I had 9 years and 5 months under my belt before I got hired by CCP and lost my characters, and only needed 7 more months before I got docking rights.

Yes, I'm jelly P

Quoting this post for context.

Back when it was made, development were looking into how to do this, and the time it would take vs the overall level of engagement that would come out of it.

It's been decided by our Development team that a Station is not the best use of resources.

That said, there'll be more information regarding this at the EVE & DUST Community Panel at Fanfest, as well as some time where we'll be discussing the idea of rewarding our long standing veterans, and taking suggestions on what people would like to see instead.

We'd like to hear you guys out, gather feedback, and see what the Community wants as a 10 year celebration of EVE in game.

So, come along to the EVE & DUST Community Panel at Fanfest 2014, and lets sit down and have a talk about what the best solution would be for rewarding our 10 year veterans.

Perhaps you (CCP) should consult your dev team regarding the feasibility of these ideas before opening your flappy word hole at fanfest.

If they don't open the flappy word hole, there'll be no need for anyone to later on open their flappy butthole and show the swelling.

Swelling buttholes is a great part of the game.

This actually doenslt bug me too much, if they had a meeting as thigns got closer and said no that it was going to drain resources then thats ok. I se emost promises as what they wan tto do, and would rather they have solid stuff to show. Fanfest is for dreaming, becuase eve has lots of cool stuff it could become,

Personally I'd rather that when they say they are going to do something, that they actually do it.

Well at least we know.

Taking nearly a year to come up with this statement, piling it up with rest of CCP's debacles I witnessed over the past 6 or so years, knowing you do have time for out of game fluff stuff like building monuments, not that I don't like it but you have time for that but not for rewarding your 10 year vets? Guess how that makes you look here?
Keeping it civil the word pants comes to my mind.

Ps: this is typical ccp nonsense & smoke:

If you're quick you still might be able to. Not everyone knows that CCP has broken this promise.

So, let me get this straight...

It's impossible to dump a random station in a random system with "X" docking restrictions?

What he means is that having a station for 10yo vets only is not feasible but likely because stations management for access- code is so ancient that trying to tie docking rights to accounts age would be next to impossible without writing an entire new code or creating special "faction" with access rights for vets only (and you would still have to verify account age by hand).

So you're better off gathering 10 yo vets and taking that station by your self. Blink

It's not really hard to take the current Faction Warfare station restriction code. All they literally have to do is modify the docking restrictions part.

Yes but the part of "account age" is not something that can be done even if the rest is possible, mainly because restriction by "faction status" already exists in the code base.
So they would have to pick personally each person that has a 10 year old account from the DB and then keep checking all the time if someone has reached the 10 year limit and pick them to this special faction.

Yes, I agrees that is hard!

But then again, I would assume that the game pulls Faction standing info from the Character Sheet. Then applies restriction on the opposite Factions' stations.

And by golly would you look at that!

Character age can only be determined by........the Character Sheet!

A simple poke to the code...

Let's not forget that Nullsec Stations code works on ownership and standings aswell.

That can be changed by the playerbase on the fly!

You know. Given that two things that Jon Lander said we would have before this next fanfest (vet stations, mobile ap) haven't happened, I begin to suspect he left out of frustration.
