Mouse cursor flickers + black boxed and drop in FPS

Hi all,

it feels I have an issue with my mouse cursor in EvE which was reported a couple of years ago and should have been fixed with one of the former NVIDIA drivers. Unfortunately, I'm still facing an annoying issue with my mouse cursor: If I move my cursor around it starts flickering and is surrounded by a black box, this comes along with a massive drop in FPS (around 50%). The FPS drop depends a bit on the NVIDA driver version I tried. For example with 320.49 it goes down by 60-70% (making EvE impossible to play), with 304.79beta it goes down ONLY by around 50%. Once I leave the cursor untouched, meaning not moving it around, the FPS rate will recover very fast. Usually I can run EvE with 60 FPS.

I tried a lot of different settings and different nVidia driver versions: 320.49, 314.22, 306.97 and 304.79beta. I'm using Windows 8 64bit which fires on an Intel i7 system with a Optimus supported GeForce GT 620M. So you can see the machine itself is a laptop. ;)

After days of browsing thru the internet I could not found any additional hints to solve this issue. The last thing I've tried was to install the 304.79beta driver which was reported to fix a very similiar issue: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1583133

Any one, any idea? :(

Many thanks!

I am suffering from the exact same problem. I'm on a laptop with an Nvidia GT 650M graphics card.

Whatever the issue it is definitely tied to the Nvidia card. When I switch to the onboard Intel graphics it doesn't happen.

I've found that switching to windowed mode (either fixed full-screen or scalable) "fixes" the issue, but obviously running EVE in windowed mode comes with a performance drop so I'd love a real solution

Experiencing exactly the same problem as well, really annoying since i have only purchased the game in the last 3 weeks. Realised that my existing laptop was not up to the job so purchased new Dell, worked brilliantly initially but then reinstalled eve and this problem has started. I think i may apply for a refund if this cannot be resolved. 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630M Graphics
