Your Honest Opinion

This is not meant I be a point the finger at someone, or call anyone out. Just a fair question wanting your simple opinion.

Do you think corporations who run recruitment scams should be able to post ads on the in game corporation recruitment feature? And if so, why or why not?

Once again, just your honest opinion. No intent on restricting or pushing anything.

Posting in a "I joined a corp and they stole all my stuffs" thread.

Recruitment scams work, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it. They might not have the same return as other scams, but it's easy money I guess.

"Use our logistics system to get your stuff to your new home, just contract it to us (no collateral) and we'll move it up for you"

"Send 500mil isk as a 'Security Deposit' - don't worry, if you leave the corp and you've not done anything bad then you get it back"

If anyone is stupid enough to fall for them then they deserve to have their isk/stuffs taken imo.

I say it should be permitted. Not permitted "legally" as if sanctioned by Concord, but permitted as an in-game hurdle that presents a threat and sense of danger that must be weighed by the prospective recruit as he wrestles with his suspicion, loathing, woe, and dread, while deciding whether or not to trust those people. Another risk to mull over before you take the big leap into the abyss of the unknowable future! Scary!

Watch this space.  New exciting signature in development.

People should learn to do some research on the correct way to join a corp before trying to join.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

absolutely yes.

moral ambiguity and issues of trust are integral parts of eve gameplay and new players should be introduced to them as early as possible. as long as it is clearly communicated to new players that scamming is tolerated in EVE I don't see any issues with this.

(and no, I don't approve of "no scamming" policies in the official recruitment channels either)

Fishing for marks in the recruitment channel is allowed (yes, I realize CCP prefers to say it's "not forbidden") but you're not allowed to post scams in the recruitment channel (i.e. isk doubling scams, "slave sets" with spur omegas, etc.)

If you are foolish enough to fall for something that has been bitched about, beaten, and screamed about ever since Eve's inception you deserve to lose every isk. Hell yes scams should be allowed. Why should I lose potential isk because you can't think?

Yes.

Just assume every player activity in EVE is a scam unless proven otherwise - and it will be much more easy to play [alone].

Can you repeat the question?

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

They do background checks on you...

You should do background checks on them...

If one side gets ****** over, its their own fault and shouldn't cry about it...

Just like threads like this who had his ISK/assets stolen and corps that get awoxed...

Yes.

They should be moved to the top of the list and featured on EVE Spotlight for their great contributions to emergent gameplay.

Yup. This is a game for grown ups.

Most corps fear spies far more than they care about your stuff. If you have stuff worth that much- you are probably past the point where you should be falling for scams in Eve. No worthwhile corp will ask for anything more than an API verification. If they do, just move on.
