Native Mac client?

I've crashed so much lately, it looks like I don't have a choice. I would prefer to continue playing on the Mac since its so user-friendly when it comes to multi-client support (so easy to switch between "screens"). Oh well...

I have a lover, her name is EVE. I see her every night and all she asks in return is that I have a pilot's license.

+1 to the "native OSX support" pile. There really is no excuse anymore.

+1 from me too.

It's annoying how you can't swipe out of EVE to another app like you can with anything else. You have to use command tab.

and a +1 from me.

I've been working in computers for 20+ years. The last machine I had was running WinXP when I built it, and the last three machines I've owned have been Linux (server), followed by two running OSX (a laptop & a desktop).

I don't plan on getting another windows machine if I can help it, and I'm tempted toward one of the new MacPros, but its incredibly frustrating to think that the only way to get nice performance out of it for EVE is through BootCamp.

When I first started into OSX, yeah, sure, I had a VM and needed to fire it up every once in a while, and then less and less frequently. Now I hardly ever touch it. Needing to buy a copy of Windows just to enjoy EVE just seems … stupid.

the EVE client on the Mac was just too unreliable for an FC so I finally caved and installed EVE on the PC using bootcamp on my iMac.

The game is ridiculously smooth now. It's sad how bad the Mac client has become that you can instantly notice the difference. No more interface lag, no more typing then suddenly the client thinks I'm actually hitting a hotkey, no more black screens when I'm next to a large fleet fight (at last!). Of course, as expected I sorely miss the ability to quickly swipe in between clients. But the world of a difference between the two clients is so clear.

CCP has really dropped the ball on the Mac client. For your own sanity, I strongly recommend using Bootcamp and switching to the PC client for now -- at least while engaging in large fleet activities. With a solid connection you'll have it installed within an hour or two.

This isn't really necessary -- I run 2 clients in Parallels without rebooting into Windows. I keep the parallels window on its own space, and use a virtual desktop app in Windows to switch between the two clients.

Works fine in large fleets.

I do not have the option to use bootcamp. My computer is under configuration control by the IT department, and that configuration does not include bootcamp. There are issues with the automated backup system, and PGP encryption. The price I pay for getting a free company computer on which I can pay eve.

Aye, sound like a good option too. I personally haven't had good experience with Parallels so haven't tried installing it again.

well to be honest, I am a bit confused at the moment. Reading the majority of the Posts and often find a "works well in large fleet´s".
I am sitting on a Imac 27" Late 2012 I7 3,4 Ghz, 680 GTX 2GB, 32 GB RAM, 3TB Fusion Drive and have to say, that the moment I fly multible chars with my standard overview settings I got stutter and delays. Not every time, but most of it.

I also use bootcamp, which is quite better than the horrible emulation MAC client, but far far away from a native Windows PC installation.

other thing is, that (as i post allready in another thread) the shortcuts work horrible or to be honest still unusable.

*emo mode ON* Damn, I hat CCP for that *emo mode OFF*

fly dangerous

Bootcamp is native Windows. I am pretty fed up with the Mac client as well but it's pretty hard to blame CCP for problems with Bootcamp. Maybe you have some issues with your machine?
