You're right, but i'm not sure which of those apply to said giff. (pretty sure i know the one he's talking about)
We're also basing this around that children would see it, my point was they shouldent be playing in order to see stuff (legal or not) that get's posted.

Which covers CCP's stance against personal harrassment, and doesn't affect "upsetting" content concerning a third party. The part that he missed would come into play if this was content specifically aimed at a particular person, and unable to be applied to any other party. I.e. his actual face photoshopped onto the deer.

But if you show real life content of cruelty in a game.....in my oppinion that goes to far. You can slaughter pixels all day any day. But if you show real life footage that doesn't belong to the game in a game?

I'm pretty baffled that you don't understand this.
No, I understand it. I just don't accept it as a reason to break game components. The solutions to your problem already exist in ways that are far better at addressing it than disallowing adults to sent each other cute cat pictures and neutering the IGB to the point where it no longer can render many websites.

The issue you're having is that you don't want to do your part, either in reporting the posters or in supervising the children. That's where the root of the whole “lazy and dishonest” label on the “think of the children” line of argumentation is always found: what that phrase actually says is “can't someone else please think of the/my children because I can't be bothered”.

…but of course, no-one ever says that because that would indicate a personal and individual problem rather than a systemic one.

So we do agreee, that this might not be posted ingame. Especially since ima vegetarian i am quiet offended.
I hope you agree that such gifs should be baned from the game and the posters with them.

Real Life and Video Games are different things.

You don't understand the actual issue.

To make people stop posting such .gifs, ALL linking to gifs needs to be eliminated.
That's basically what you're asking for.

If CCP eliminated the ability to link any gifs, then NO gif at all can be linked anymore,
even the good ones, which are the majority.

How can i tell they are the majority ? Because most people don't post crap.

The issue here is, that when CCP eliminates the linking of gifs because of crappy ones,
they give in to those who link them. It means, we all are potential sickos that could link such gifs,
which is completely whack.

Every time something is censored because of a minority, it just shows that
whoever is in control gives in to the minority, slowly turning everybody into said minority.
It evolves into a paranoid mindset, which is a bad thing.

Furthermore, it means that the minority can hold the controlling instance hostage !

You KNOW (you do !) that there are people out there who would love doing that.

They'll just keep doing **** until everything is censored so nobody can speak freely anymore,
because everybody risks of saying/doing something that somebody else finds offensive !

If you think that through, you'll see that censorship is a bad thing to happen.

Children don't need to be saved, they need to be watched out for and cared for.

Children with parents who fail at doing that have far greater problems than looking at said gifs.

Of course there are children who might accidentially look at such gifs,
but if you believe that - because of a minority - things should get censored,
then you don't understand censorship and it's consequences at all.

**** happens ... that's life ... and it worked great for most of our history.
Only "recently" people started whining more and more about things they find offensive,
(and getting their will too!)
as if it was the other parties fault that they can't deal with reality.

I'm offended by you being offended. I'm also offended by you being a vegetarian.
Somebody should ban you from the forums.

it's justified, doesn't mean it actually *is* justified.

You haven't been shown anything obscene or frankly that mortifying. The .gif in question doesn't really offend because it is not showing context. There is a mass difference in the general public's acceptability of that offending .gif in question and an actual context of cruelty going on. The .gif in question barely pushes into "gore" if you're talking about implementing the censorship of certain genres of content.

Everything that you are advocating as unacceptable has not been seen by you or the vast majority of players on public channels, simply because what you are advocating already exists.

Now they come for the rest of our gifs.

Ok i see your point and it is valid. I will easily sacrifice myself to watch all those gifs. and report people who post them. Lesson learned. I see your point and you are right. But give me that those people would have only ONE opportunity to post that stuff.
Freedom of speech is a really big thing that we all have to fight for. Especially on the internet. But abusing that has to have consequences.
I was subbing anything against sopa and all those limitations as well. I am actively fighting against internet censorship. :-)

So in addition to playing moral guardian you are also taking intellectual high ground?

This thread is going places.
