Understanding the politics of null

Could you recommend places for a newcomer to start reading about the politics of nullspace. Who's Who now and how they got there.

Not to choose sides but to get an honest report. It seems most posts assume the reader already knows what is going on but alot of us don't.

read EN24 and kugu for a few weeks

even if you lack the background knowledge to understand every single post 100% you will get the picture pretty quick, just continue reading.

kugu's EVE Online Uncensored board is the most important source of information on 0.0 politics - many of the main "actors" post directly there.

EN24 used to be a summary of kugu with one day delay but nowadays they seem to get a lot of original material, especially battle-reports.

The fhc War & Politics board usually carries less spin, trolling and off-topic discussions than kugu. To some this may appear as a benefit.
I haven't read it much lately but fhc/shc used to be a good source of grammatically correct reports written by average grunts like you and me.

CAOD is useless.

dotlan maps

use the overlays to get a vague idea of whats going on in a location.
null is huge and not all null is the same null or near other nulls so the question is pretty much unanswerable

best way to see whats happening in a region is to live there and take notes

Impossible mission.

But you can start by reading this forum, you'll find interesting stuff everywhere.

There are so many huge epic conflicts that have happened over the years...your best bet is to just chat up some people who have been in the game awhile. Take everything with a grain of salt since everyone is biased (knowingly or otherwise). After awhile you'll start to get a decent sense of eve-history, or at least the major events in it.

My best reply is to get your hands dirty and join a 0.0 alliance.

It took me a few months, but I learned a lot of alliance history, ally ties, enemies, alliance leaders, strategies. etc.

Just jump into the fray and have some fun.

And then he reposts it, with some *special* flavour added.

by now the OP thinks his thread has been savagely derailed
but what the OP doesn't know is that this has been a re-enactment of the politics in null
