Prophecy (damnation/abso) looks like a fat chicken
Ragnarok looks like some "stuff", with an afterthought of more "stuff" bolted onto the ends of it
Incursus (enyo/ishkur) looks like a shield with a lance poking out from it. Not a spaceship
Dominix (Sin) Like a normal ship that has been slammed into a wall or something
Moa (Eagle/Onyx/Gila) Fugly
Blackbird (Falcon/Rook) Also Fugly, but at least the Falcon can be invisible

Would be nice if it was a Gallente or Minmatar ship getting a makeover, since the other two races have had one already.

As for all the whinging about the Moa, you guys must be on crack, that ship is gorgeous. Please CCP, don't make every Caldari ship symmetrical.

I'd say some of the Minmatar frigates need looking at. They don't really look kludged-together, just...bad. Especially the ones with random spikes sticking out of flat, complete surfaces.

As for the kludged-together look in general...you'd think the designs would be a bit more streamlined by now. Not enough to lose the Minmatar "hull tanking with duct tape" aesthetic, just a little sleeker.

Hands off the Dominix, it's one the most distinctive ships ingame (and beyond)!

I am at loss why not more Dominix-lovers are speaking up here, I suppose they are too busy pwning all over Eve to find time to post. Smile

I'd say the Raven, never been a fan.

The Dominix to me always looked like a basketball trainer. Shaq's basketball trainer, that was dipped in experimental bio nuclear cucumber waste, that then went on to grow exponentially for hundreds of years, before dying of a gill infection, turning upside-down and floating to the top of the tank. At whIch point Gallente scientists winched it out, filled it with drones and put boosters where the laces once were. The ship was born.

I'd say the Obelisk whale needs a bit of touch up.
Why is the Anshar the worst looking of the JF lot?
Bloody Rhea gets nice cow spots, Ark has nice Carthum colors, Nomad .. err who cares Smile

More cowbells for Obelisk/Anshar please.

*raises hand* I made a pro-Domi post in the other thread!

You're never going to get a consensus on what looks "ugly". And anyway, the ships in EVE are basically perfect. They just need to be made better versions of whatever they are - whether that be organic, assymetric, penis-like, made of boxes, etc., etc.

I dread to think what a "consensus" about EVE ships would be - probably all some boring generic movie s-f look, like the bloody costumes we have now.

Reminds me of popular fads like "spikey" armor and Image comics.

Be careful what you wish for ...

there was a domi that a eve player made that sleeked it up but retained the entire shape still.

It was along this lines but the guy made a model and skinned it.

Revenant, but I think we can all agree on that.

The Imicus hull is pretty bad. A globular mass indicating neither form nor function.
Griffin is a ship where every part of it looks like an afterthought.
Never cared much for the Typhoon or Exequror either.

I like the Moa. It looks like a viper rearing up to strike from a coiled position. One of the more original designs in the game.

I thought everyone knew the Domi was a motorbike. Well, the main body part of the bike. Just put a wheel under the back part of it and one sticking out the front and there you have it, a motorbike!

For some reason I don't think they'll redesign a Caldari again. Should be a Gallente or Minmatar ship.

I tend to like ships that are for the most part symmetrical in design with asymmetrical properties shall we say. I like the Tristan and Incursus for example have their main bodies and engine placement in mirror fashion but have a bridge on one side and a jousting antenna on one side. They give it more character.

The Imicus and Exequror are almost completely random with engine placements and overall body design, hence on my more disliked lists. I think the new Maller and Scorpion designs are quite nice. I would tend to agree that a slightly more sleeker version with visible drone launch bays my make the Domi a much easier vessel to look at.

I can't say much for the other races due to SP and not flying them. Lets hope CCP spreads the love evenly this winter with ship remodels/skins. Amarr and Caldari got the last revamps. Lets see some Minmatar and Gallente ones.

Bunch of haters hatin' on the Raven. Personally, I look forward to seeing what Sansha can do with a Raven... It would be like bacon topped with spikes topped with spikes topped with bacon firing photon torpedoes "guided" by True Sansha Tachyon Beam Target Painters, where guided means the photon torpedo flies down the hole just created by the Tachyon Beam Target Painter.

I know the Caldari already got the scorpion makeover, but I seriously think the moa hull needs a rethink. That thing is so terrifyingly ugly, it's the only reason I don't fly an onyx on my main. The prophecy could use a little less turkey in its design, too.

Blackbird hull is a must very soon because it is not even textured correctly. The Stabber is looking very half assed and low poly. I'd toss the Mammoth ont he list too - it's not that it's ugly (it's not) but it is very blocky and needs a higher polygon count.

Nothing wrong with the raven. Apart from the fact its useless for everything outside of a mission.

I actually really like the look of the Mammoth. It's the only one to really capture the feel of the name "industrial". The others look all nice and shiny, sure, but the Mammoth looks like it was designed in the USSR for heavy handed use.

I'd love to see some ships get a makeover. Just some ideas of mine:

Raven - make the two wings the same size and shape, but transfer that protrusion on the right wing to the left; pull in those radial spikes under the right wing just a bit; breakup the windows on the cockpit to look like several levels instead of giant windows; get rid of the tubes; center the model along the cockpit-engine axis

Moa - keep the off-center bridge part and lower right engine thing, they balance each other; either mirror the left engine pod on the left with the right, mirroring the body as well, or mirror the right side with the left; align the model to a central axis that runs between the two engines in the rear (currently feels like it's slightly off-center to those)

Coercer - just make the body and engines symmetrical, mirror either side with the other, while keeping the side cockpit

Imicus - straighten out the main body so it's freakin' vertical and then mirror the side wing

Tempest - move the bottom leg to the center of the ship, maybe center that engine pod on the bottom of it as well

Stabber - mirror that engine on the right with the left

Typhoon - get rid of that thing on the bottom rear that looks like a lowered landing platform; remove that engine on the upper left; get rid of the giant tubes, or maybe makes them thinner and more numerous, like a bunch of smaller tubes instead of one giant one

Omen - get rid of that side thing, the shield arm I've heard it commonly called

Crucifier - maybe mirror the right side with the left, but keep the tower as well, just add something to that side so it doesn't look so unbalanced

Kestral - pull in that right pod just a bit, so it's the same distance from the center as the left pod; mirror the rear of the right pod with the left; straighten out the angle of the right wing tip and make it symmetrical with the left

Blackbird - generally mirror the right side with the left, make it kinda look like a flying wing, but keep the asymmetrical central structures

Thorax - mirror the right side onto the left, that whole lower engine pod looks really cool

Exequror - just balance and make even the engines

Celestis - just mirror the left side, sans that cockpit, onto the right

Machariel - get rid of that pod on the upper left, but keep that tower there

Megathron - get rid of that pod on the upper left as well

Atron - mirror the left side onto the right, minus that side cockpit

Osprey - just mirror the right side onto the left

Navitas - mirror the right side onto the left

Bantam - just make it symmetrical

Cormorant - make the rear wings symmetrical, but keep that cockpit like structure on the left side

Aeon - make it symmetrical

Phoenix - make those wings symmetrical

Thanatos - just make the rear and engines symmetrical
