How the devil do you get out of them?

I'm assuming there's a way, otherwise half the corps in game would never be able to join a new alliance right?

If you dont have any options that allow you to retract the war then I would put a support ticket in.

The war would run until the paid period has expired. If the CEO paid the bill available to them before leaving it would run for up to two weeks. If the war was made mutual it would last longer though, since mutual wars do not have a weekly cost associated with them.

Thanks for the responses. They're mutual and I believe will never expire. There don't seem to be any options to get out of them.

I put in a support ticket three days ago, I guess I was posting here because I wondered if the reason I'd had no response was that I was being dumb in some way.

So cheers, unless anyone adds any new info to the contrary I guess it is a fault with the game and ccp are just being slow. It is at least some small consolation to know that I am just stuck, rather than stuck because I'm doing something stupid :|

Problems like these happen all of the time. My corp still has bills from a year ago.....

You can declare the war as UNmutual now, as well as mutual. Once you declare the war UNmutual, if you are the aggressor, you just let the timer expire. If you are the defender, then you should be able to let the timer expire as well, and it should drop, since the other corp wont be renewing the war.

If you're the agressor you can just surrender the war, it will retract the war automatically after 24 hours.

The retract option should work and the Ghost Bills are annoying. Think we already got reimbursed for 50-60 of those bills. Just make a screenshot, create petition via the website, add the screenshot and petition it. They respond pretty fast to those petitions.

Thanks again for the replies. The only option I seem to have is surrender, and that doesn't have any effect. The decs are against mostly closed corps but some not.

I'm pretty sure this is a known game fault from when they changed the war system months ago. The good news though is that CCP have gotten back to my petition and seem to be on it.

With a bit of luck they'll all be cancelled after downtime \o/
