Everybody gotta die sometime, OP

CCP are great at bringing out new content so I dont see a reason for the game not to be around in 10 years. The game is about progression both SP & ISK wise. So as long as CCP keep releasing new ships to train into and create bigger ISKsinks Cool.

The one suggestion I would give to CCP is to remove the Character Bazar, everyone is stuck with the characters they have right now! Want a higher SP toon? Train one.

I predict in 10 years there will be 50% more ships in the game than there are now.

You will be able to set new standings.

Pink will mean your relation is complicated.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

One way to see what may happen is to look closely at the competition. The roadmap for Elite Dangerous is probably the closest thing to EVE and they include having players stow away on some types of ship then attack the crew to steal the ship/cargo later on!

I think EVE will fragment into several different sub-games which will be relatively seamlessly linked and playable on many platforms.

e.g.

Space fleet battle, industry and exploration (EVE)
Drone or fighter based combat in space and planet atmospheres including gas giants etc. (EVR)
Casual human scale combat on planets, in space construction yards, orbital facilities and capital ships (Dust)
Human scale archaeology and exploration, probably puzzle based like Myst or The Room.
City/Station/colony management, futuristic Sim City in space (and on planets)

These will be integrated in a way that a subscription or free to play character can exist to some extent in all games.

I think that the EVE universe will be much more widely known and the playerbase significantly larger.

In 10 years, EVE will be a legacy game maintained by CCP on a downsized Tranquilty server which will be the equivalent to present time's Singularity. A small but fanatical crowd will still populate it and once a year they will assemble a big fight of 1,000 players to remember the good old days.

And when they fail to meet their goal, I will log in and say: "you should had backuped avatar gameplay while you could, a-holes!" Twisted

Non-trolling prediction................I honestly don't see EVE being around in 5 years, let alone 10. ESP with the way CCP has been handling the game in general.

The over glorified "expansions" that's been released in the past few years will continue with no real content even touched.

Probably true, I have no idea what they're thinking.

I will agree with you that I've often found CCP's idea of an expansion pretty funny. Its just a big patch. Many of us have been PC gamers for years and our idea of an expansion is much, much different. At least for me.

In ten years, the Goons will not only have amassed twenty thousand players and rule all of nullsec,
they will hunt through all of "newspace" to take it over (talked about on fanfest)
and burn jita will be spread out to every tradehub; except Hek.

Hek will be turned into a wasteland, because of the constant wars
and the continous, never ending ganking i and my hundreds of mates
will bring upon everybody.

*sighs*

I just want to see the world burn..... forever.........

This is the worst case scenario and by all means a possibility. Whether a lot of players like it or not, a bigger push on something to do with your actual avatar would attract a larger player base, and ultimately increase the longevity of this game.

I don't think it will come to that in 10 years though. I could be wrong, if somehow an awesome spaceship type sandbox game comes out within that time period.

I see us finally walking in stations.

I see us finally landing on planets & doing what Dust 514 is doing & more.

I see new expansions of uncharted space opening up to explore & take.

I see NPC AI becoming more deadly in that only large fleets can fight them to claim their riches.

I see that I am wishing for too much.

Really, I just hope CCP gets past all this re-balance & fixing old problems stuff. I would really like to see something new & exciting again. I know it has to be done for the good of the game, but let's have something game changing again.

All fine points and my wish is likewise, however landing on planets and Dust what-have yous is a ship that is slowly sailing away. It was ambitious, yet not releasing it on PC was a big mistake imho. So CCP wants to attract a new audience by releasing on the console. It will get a gloss over with its reiteration unto the PS4, but what then? Countless, better, AAA FPS titles already exist and from whats been seen at this year's E3, several more will be coming out soon.

Ah well.

I wouldn't worry, people will still be flying afk in pods, not using insta-dock bookmarks etc.
Also there's bound to be the weekly got scammed by goons + got ganked high-sec mining threads.

Oh and low-sec will still be the forgotten / abandoned part of EvE.

Very tough to tell, they're expanding the universe with games like Dust, and ideas like EVE-VR.

I think the game will survive for 5 years, but 10... not so sure.

Without operations like mine it would be impossible for certain Alliances to conduct a respectable war. There are three basic types of arms deal: white, being legal, black, being illegal, and my personal favorite, gray.

The neuromancers that walk the wastelands will not allow us to play eve as it would effect the global thought stream.
