EVE VOICE CLIENT / SERVER - OUT OF GAME

Communication management and member participation has always been annoying to deal with. EVE voice currently, is not really practical for most either.

(keep in-game eve voice if you will) but I'm proposing the idea that we develop an out-of-game client and isolated servers.

As far as servers are concerned, the server application could either be public, or enclosed and private to service EVE users directly. Actually I like the latter because CCP could essentially charge Money or PLEX for montly server costs, and have different payscales depending on how many seats one alliance/corp/coalition would need. Think of it as a dedicated voice-chat server with EVE account authentication and private communication between the EVE world and EVE Voice(out-of-game).

So essentially:

  • Package it with the EVE installation
  • Users have to use their login information like any other EVE service (choose which account to use if multi-boxing) [Eliminates the problem of getting members to register and promotes participation]
  • Rooms are controlled by standings
  • Basic rooms are automatically created (like Corp, Alliance etc..). When someone creates a fleet a temporary room is created with the fleet label and by the fleet's standings and fleet's requirements (this allows blues to join your server and into your fleet channel!). Then for other misc things, allow server admins to create custom rooms which are also controlled by standings. You can even go crazy and make it so there is a Leadership room where it already knows who the CEO's and Directors are. Or which characters have the skills to fly capitals, etc...
  • Higher Quality voice codecs
  • If an account is expired/unsubbed, still allow access. This will promote incentive to play EVE again

As far as coalitions are concerned. The alliance that makes the fleet will host the temporarily generated room. Depending on what standings are set in-game the voice servers will know which servers to link to, to allow blues to join other alliance servers.

And when I say join servers, I mean automatically and behind the scenes. All the user would see is the list of available rooms to them.

Any other ideas?

Include API authentication. When your account is active you can use it.
