bugged launcher.

ubuntu 13.04 wine 1.6

I need to launch the launcher a few times to get it to show the username and password boxes so I can log in.

As well as the background image sometimes fails to load. Any fixes to this issue.

There is a workaround. When you want to actually start the game, open a terminal and type the following

wine "c:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe"

Or if you're a 64-bit user

wine "c:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe"

Alternatively, if you don't like using the terminal every time you want to play EVE, you could copy the default desktop shortcut, and redirect it to the aforementioned file in WINE's C drive (you'll need to show hidden files to find it unless you enter the path manually).

EDIT: You'll still need to run the launcher to patch the game, I'm afraid.

im getting 80% good launchers after i installed:

driconf
python-cairo
python-support
python-gtk2

before i was getting 50-50%

It still works and personally I consider the patching process to be superior with the repair tool because it actually shows what it's doing instead of a stupid loading bar.

After 2 weeks launching its still the same 50-50% for me

Seriously, don't use the launcher. You need the launcher to work once per patch, and then close it, and go back to launching manually.

I have updated my ubuntu post to discuss chopping out the launcher. just patch using the launcher, then close it. It's crap.
