Frigate fights are fast and furious, great fun and your wallet doesn't scream each time you lose.

Approx 10mil for a T2 fit Frig.

Consider joining FW -

You get fights, including solo fights and you can control what ship types enter the plex. novice plexes only allow T1 and faction Frigs in.

Make loads of ISK in plexes waiting for fights, so you have a steady income to pay for your soon to be PvP habbit.

Its a lot of fun.

There are downsides - you can't dock in enemy lowsec stations etc.

Read up to learn more.

And I agree - Flyinghotpocket is a moron.

Edit: Oh and a spell in RvB/Brave Newbies/Eve Uni wouldn't be a bad thing to learn the basics.

thx

I did join FW recently

all frigates are the same crap. none of them stand out. they all suck. fly real ships like cruisers bc's and battleships

and it really helps if you have triple link ogb and falcon alt

Show us where the mean man touched your failfit frigate.

show me where any frigate does anything better than the other. they are all crap.

So, your position is that since they're balanced, they all suck? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Wow, thanks, I needed a good laugh. But hey, answering your "challenge" is trivial, so here we go:

Combat frigates brawl better than Attack frigates.
Attack frigates tackle better than Combat frigates.

As for them all being "crap", what about the fact that a T1 frigate can tackle and kill most projectile cruisers/BCs? They can also hold any BS long enough for backup to arrive. They can survive most vanilla gate camps thanks to their speed and agility, making them great scouts. They're affordable, accessible, fast, fun... And we haven't even talked about pirate and T2 frigs.

I'm going to second the gank Atron. Just be sure to fit Null S until you get more than the basics down.

Here's a good fit, from Godsapples:

[Atron, Teh Best Atron Eva!!!1!!one!]
Tracking Enhancer II
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

1MN Afterburner II
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

Light Neutron Blaster II
Light Neutron Blaster II
Light Neutron Blaster II
Empty

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Empty

Does a ton of damage and can handle most solo situations well. Avoid kiters, unless you MWD it but that entails a whole host of other problems which I won't cover here.

Tormentor is lots of fun right now.

Fly at the edge of scram range, load Scorch, unleash Warrior IIs, collect killmail.

[Tormentor, Tormentor fit]

Internal Force Field Array I
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer
Heat Sink II
Adaptive Nano Plating II

1MN Afterburner II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Scorch S

Small Energy Burst Aerator I
Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
[Empty Rig slot]

Warrior II x2
If you're feeling cheap you can drop the IFFA for a meta 3 suitcase. With las0rz O/H you do 189dps including drones.

Enjoy!

+1 for a short stay in BNI

You'll be in the same boat (Boat. Ship. See what I did there?) as half of the member base so you won't get shunned for being a newbro, and there are frigate fleets most nights that are hilarious fun. There's a core of bittervets who don't quite get the bitter part and are more than willing to help new people learn the ropes of PVP.

[On Topic]
My vote for newbie frig is the Tristan. Better damage projection than any other frig provided your drone skills are half decent. Yeah, the dual rep Incursus is pretty rad, but if you can pull range they're dead. You can't pull range on drones without disengaging.

I can be found here: anothereveblog.tumblr.com Alternatively I can be found decloaking 15K to your aft. Bombs away!

Don't listen to any of the folks getting down on solo frig pvp. There is lots of it to be found especially in FW systems (head for the small and novice plexes).

Don't buy 100 of the same ship. Variety is the spice of life and you will learn more about the limitations and weakness of ships as much by flying them as killing them.

I have to concur with what a lot of people here have said:

  • The Incursus is a really solid T1 frig especially active tanked.
  • The Kestrel works well too but not suitable for your skills.
The Tormentor is probably the best Amarr frig with it's 3 mid slots, go for a big buffer tank by fitting a 400m plate.

(All these are good for brawling which generally means getting up close and personal with webs and scrams)

For kiting I would recommend, the condor, atron and slasher. When kiting go for a long point get the T2 disrupter as it goes to 24k. Stay outside of scram and web range and slowly kill your target. You need to learn how to control range. It's trickier than brawling but you have a better chance to escape if needs be.

Finally:

It's about trying to get fights on your terms or when the risk is acceptable. Learn to use your dscan to the point it becomes a religion. Most people in lowsec are quite friendly and will chat to you after the fight too which is often worthwhile.

Hopefully I'll see you out there!
