So what's up with that tag showing when CCP Rise was talking? For those who didn't see it, Rise was talking and then the official stream shows a tag under him saying "CCP Douchebag - used to play EVE". Rise saw it as well and appeared pretty shocked Shocked

So who at CCP hates him and why? We want the dirty secrets! Big smile

I'd reckon that was the wrath of Loxy and/or Bro getting back to Rise for saying earlier something like the backroom staff doesn't count when comparing AT experience of the devs.

CCP douchebag is a bit too much, especially on an official CCP stream. They should have gone with CCP Hatesfun.

He said that the guys behind the scenes were "secondary." The guys behind the scenes disagreed.

Tbh I love that CCP does things like this. They're, for the most part, not afraid to be politically incorrect or mildly offensive just to have fun. It's a welcome respite imo

Confirming it was in response to him slagging the team behind the scenes P, just a little delayed as we were busy when he said it and then didn't have a clear opportunity until the next studio segment.

I found it very funny and a fitting jab for discounting all the hard work people behind the scenes do.

Lolz, I thought they were serious...

I often got annoyed by CCP Rise attitude, behavior and his commentating. Could be that I am alone cause I haven't seen many others post about this. The way he interrupted Dolan when the latter was miles ahead of him in his match commentary was often rude. When commentating he made a ton of mistakes because he wasn't reading the flow of the match well and overall he seemed ill prepared. As an example just watch the last minute of the first leg between The Ronan and Exodus (one of many). When he appeared in the Panel his contributions were little to none and he often appeared disinterested.

Now I don't want to be out of place here and I am sure CCP Rise excels at what he does in his day to day job at CCP but as a commentator he did a poor job this year. He should motivate himself more or give his seat to someone who is motivated at CCP.

2 cents..

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.

Have to say I love that Rise is part of the CCP team, he is dedicated (posts from home on days off), takes the input of the players seriously in his balancing decisions and I enjoy his commentary. Two thumbs up, if I had another thumb he would get three.

That being said, Rise you got what you deserved I laughed my ass off when I saw it. I hope this teaches you to play nice from here on out Big smile

I have to disagree here, I like his analytical and calm personality. IMHO there are already enough extroverted commentators on the team so having someone calmer as a bit of contrast is refreshing. You are right that he contributed less than others in the studio segments, he's clearly not someone who keeps talking for minutes, but his comments were thoughtful and valuable and to me didn't show any lack of interest.

One small point I have to concede is that Rise along with the other CCP commentators Fozzie and Dolan didn't do a particularly great job at staying on the ball during matches when commentating in the booth. It was a bit too often that they missed someone going out of the arena till a minute later and a bit too often have I heard a surprised "This ship exploded out of nowhere!!!" when actually it has been slowly taking damage for the last 10 seconds.

Bacchanalian, Brent and Shadoo did a much better job in this regard and I have seen this done better by all 3 of the dev commentators in the past. So probably they just need to forget about Razer products or explaining how flagships work during matches and they would be their old selfs again when it comes to seeing what's going on.

I agree with Rob, I always liked the EVE AT because of how raw, and funny it was. All this advertising I know is making you money and allowing you to do this sort of thing, but I don't like it always in ma face ^^

Explaining flagships is probably a good thing, but talking about what they "Might" have fitted (it could be IN EXCESS of 15 BILLION!) and things like that, are just meh..

This. I think it's great that CCP still does "unprofessional" things like this from time to time.

I had missed the snarky remarks Rise made about the backstage team, so I didn't get the context. Now that I know, it's funny and seems well-deserved Lol

About Rise as commentator... well it's clear that many people disliked Shadoo and also many people liked him. Same with Rise. CCP just picked very different people for the team and it has worked out well: almost everyone dislikes one of them and also everyone likes some of them. Both contributes to being entertained. Perfect! ^^

Personally I noticed that Rise generally talked less when on the studio panel, or was talked over when he did try to say something. He was kind of sidelined by the more extroverted other guys. That he was positioned on the far right didn't help, maybe put him in the middle the next time.

Bacchanalian and CCP Rise seem to be a natural pair when commentating from the booth.

I am not sure about Bacchanalian's background, but he seems very calm and collected when commentating - as if he does public speaking aspects as part of his real life job.

Kil2 is good, though I feel his strengths have always been one-on-one more than group battles.

Edit: changed "has" to "have"...

The jab at Rise was hilarious, particularly the "used to play Eve" part.

I was also impressed with CCP Dolan. Michael Bolton was absolutely my least favorite personality from previous alliance tournaments; he is much improved since leaving Test and joining CCP.

Fozzie always solid.

Definitely enjoyed Shadoo's shenanigans, and yes, even his yelling and occasional interruptions.
