C - 1 WH advice on extra ships

Keep in mind pvp is not really a huge threat to gas, and PI operations*. The best way to mine gas is with a venture which is cheap and hard to catch. With PI you will lose a hauler or 2, but it's pretty rare and cheap. The thing to do is fly smart. Keep your gas miner aligned and watch dscan. With your PI hauler get in and get out quick. Don't follow a set pattern of planet 1, 2, 3, 4. Mix it up 2, 4,3, 1 or the like. Fit warp stabs, and tank on your hauler and miner, but remember to fly cheap.

In terms of running 100% sites or ore mining I'd do one or more of following:
- Wait until the hole has gone time crit, or just died and respawned
- Station a cloaked ship near the hole, select hole and look at it, and turn the volume on the client all the way up. When you hear the hole activate safe up the rest of your fleet.
- Put out combat probe in the edge of the system and blanket scan the system every minute or 2 for new ships.
- Don't mine or run sites if you're connected to high traffic HS/LS/NS, or an inhabited wormhole system.
- Do it fast in cheap ships (cheap BSs, desty salvagers, and tech 1 minning barges)

*I've done PI 2-3 times a week in a C2 with a high sec static for the better part of a year, and been jumped twice. Both times the attacker failed to catch me. I think the over that time the corp lost maybe 3 indys doing PI. Given the rewards of PI in wspace and the price of indys it was considered noise on our killboards.
