Hi all, 0/

I.m a pretty new player and been looking into all the different things you can do in eve.

FW really stand out to me and seems pretty exciting anda way of making isk at the same time.

So i guess what i'm wondering is there any advice for a new player about to take the plunge into this area?

TLDR: Get into an FW established corp and learn the ropes from them and fly cheap while your learning the ropes.

Make sure to get into an established corp in FW. The NPC corp is a good start but just to get your feet wet, once you have read up on FW and played around in it a bit with the NPC corp I would start looking to join a player run corp.

Make sure to read as much info as you can find on FW. Here is a good start on that: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Factional_Warfare

Also try and focus on doing group PvP and while doing solo PvE for isk try and avoid solo fights unless your ready to lose allot of ships to boosted high skill point solo artists out there. Now thats not to say you can't solo PvP as there is a good number of fights to be found for a solo PvPer however the odds of you winning a solo PvP fight is low due to how much skill it takes to solo. If you have the isk and the will to tough out Solo PvP and lose a good number of ships while you learn the tricks of the trade then Solo PvP might work just fine for you. Most however when first starting in FW do much better when joining up with fleets.

Make sure to check fleet finder and make friends. Friends go a long long way in this game. If you don't make any friends and don't want to interact with people then you lose out on many of the options you would have. This is why joining a established corp in FW is a great idea. Trust is much harder to gain in an NPC corp and getting access to the Main FW comms for that faction might be a bit more troubling with out a corp to support you.

Other then that keep you ships nice and cheap. Frigs and destroyers are used allot in FW and so are Cruisers. Once your join in on other things happening in FW you might start seeing or joining Battleship Fleets and BC fleets but for the most part Frigs and Destroyers are the most used ships in FW.

When making isk using Plexs make sure to use your directional scanner, local, and keep your wits about you. It can be boring to spin a button for 15 or so min but the moment you walk away to get a coke is the moment that a red warps in and starts to shoot you up. Plexs are also a great way to find some solid and more controlled solo PvP. Since you can normally sit on the warp in with out any problems you can get some fun strait up brawl fights with web and scram and an AB allow you to control a fight much more and also using your directional scanner you can see who might be coming in. Also most PvP Frig fights last less then a min so its a good way to get a strait up 1v1 even if they have friends waiting in the next system over or even 30+ AU away, the fight is normally over before they can land on the gate and activate it.

Also please for the love of god don't live out of Highsec. Once in FW Lowsec should be your place of living. Use Freighter servers like Black Frog to move stuff for you or move a good number of frigs on your own but set up a base where your Faction lives in Lowsec. For example if you join Gallente you would move to Nenna or Vlill. Not sure about the other factions TBH. Also consider Highsec to be a very dangerous place. Corps like XMETA and many others through out FW love to hunt in Highsec looking for juicy easy kills. Once in FW highsec should be considered very dangerous to move haulers or big ships around and even small ships are in threat of being caught. After years of FW I have to say I see the world a bit backwards for safety. 0.0 I consider the safest place in the game for most (if you belong to a big bloc), Lowsec is dangerous but not as dangerous as Highsec due to its false sense of security it gives FW pilots. You will never believe how many FW pilots still Mine in Highsec. My Thrashers love to Eat FW miners in highsec, oh the tears you get when popping a War Target in Highsec thats Mining.

Heres a good guide about plexing:

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815
