I meant to say fighter DPS bonus, not drone but thanks for splittin hairs.

As for 'we're going to do this the srsbsnspoastinway' sorry. I though the forums were for the meaningful exchange of questions and answers, helping people get better at the game.

Clearly I forgot that I'm playing 'Troll Everyone Else Into The Ground Online'.

Edit: unless you're doing c5/6 wh sites, you don't need the reisist bonuses on the archon for carrier PVE.. end even then it's a stretch. These things have a lot of slots, and a lot of EHP

really truley, the only answer here depends on what kind of 'ratting' you are looking to do

- level 5 missions - thana
- nullsec anom's - anything with sentries. archon i guess due to moar ehp
- wormholes - idunno. ask someone who cares about wormholes -- depends on local wh effects i imagine

if you're thinking of using a carrier to belt rat, well. just biomass now.

Well, then like i said. you'll mostly be using sentries to it matters a lot less. archon gets those resist bonuses, so you'll last longer. but if you do it right the things will barely scratch you no matter what you're in.

No meaningful difference between the armor carriers. Chimera is the worst with only 4 slots for drone damage modules. Archon is the most used and best fleet carrier (though Chimera could well be, the meta is just behind the curve in this one).

Drone balance pass and remake has been hinted towards as something CCP will do, which could end up with fighters becoming best for ratting once again. In that case, Thanatos would rock.

Given the various types of rats in different systems it's not that easy to give an answer. You'll need to provide us with a system name you'll be using said carrier to rat in first before we can help.

This looks pretty good: carrier for ratting.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

The resists let you get away with fewer low slots for tank (and there are more low slots to start with), thus more slots for DDAs.

More DDAs > More DPS > More ISK

Hey guys i thought the carriers look good so was wondering what is the best carrier for ratting anomalies in?? Or super carrier?

Sentry fit thantos is what you're after. Anyway ratting in a carrier is easy and fairly safe as long as you're not an idiot. If it's your first time in one don't bother.

As said before it's a fairly quick and easy way to rat but there are cheaper and better ships for doing it in.

I used to use a Thanny, but I swapped to an Archon when the new aggro mechanics made using Fighters a super pain in the ass. Now I just use a sentry Archon.

Though, in truth, recently I've just been using a rattlesnake. It does the job just as well for a third the cost.

On the chance this is a troll:

Use a super pimped revelation, completely officer fit. You'll be square, and nigh invulnerable. Don't forget the faction sentry drones.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

I'm just gonna throw this out there because it's hardly a state secret anymore. If you want the drone aggro mechanics to work like they did before the patch just fit a ECM burst to your midslot and light it the instant you come out of warp. Presto changeo it's like the old drone mechanics and you can use fighters just fine.

How it works: you become an 'electronic warfare' target which places you higher on the AI hate scale than your fighters. new waves will still occasionally aggro your fighters, like they used to.

The downside: you gain a 60 second PVP weapons timer while you have the ECM midslot active that prevents you from docking or jumping. the timer remains at 60 seconds until you de-activate the module, or enter warp (it deactivates in warp)

Edit: this also works with target painters (I have not verified myself) and works on subcapitals like Domi's, and with drones (not just fighters)

Edit #2: if you are going to use this trick in highsec, exercise extreme caution as you could be concorded very easily if your ecm burst hits another player or things like asteroids. this is mostly for low/null use.

you're welcome.

Shouldnt really be ratting in a carrier. For a start other ships do the job a lot more efficiently and secondly its a really easy way to loose a fairly expenisve ship.

Incorrect.

Carrier ratting is by far the most efficient anom ratting ship in the game. 14 Sentry 2's with appropriate mods will out dps any ship, and only afk noobs lose them...

But there are a lot of afk noobs. Twisted

Yes. Think about what you've done wrong, and then return to this thread.
