Meh. This is clearly too subjective to get a ton of consensus. But were it up to me, these could all use work:

  • Raven
  • Imicus
  • Moa
  • Drake
  • Apocalypse
  • Stabber
  • Celestis
  • Osprey
  • Ashimmu

But that's just me. There was a time I wouldn't hesitate to put the Dominix on that list but it's grown on me enough to forgive it. The Apocalypse is my personal least favorite hull in the game but I know it has a serious fan base.

wait? whats wrong witht he Apocalypse and Ashimmu????

i do compleatly agree with the rest though

Apoc looks really bad. Never liked the look of it. Kinda like a rotten banana.

IMO Drake looks fine.
Also Raven should be symmetrical.

I'd add some other ships to the list:
- Tempest
- Typhoon
- Dominix
- Arbitrator

Moa, please redo the moa, I don't want to fly a duck carrying a briefcase.

Lucky for you there's little reason to fly it :)

But most Gallente and Caldari ships are ugly....especially Celestis, Caracal and Raven...

Yikes, totally forgot about the Caracal. It looks like a shiny metal twig.

The Raven is a mess, although it's not as universally despised as some. I don't hate it, it's kinda utilitarian but not retina-charring.

Here's another one:

Does anyone actually like the pattern of the navy issue Gallente ships? Navy Issue Mega...great ship ruined by jungle camo. Think about it for a sec. Jungle camo. In space. lolwat.

THIS ^^

I used to love my black and silver navy megathron, I had to stop using it the day it got jungle camo

Minmitar Carrier. It's so ugly it's sinful.

It looks like they were halfway through with construction when they ran out of material, let it sit unpainted in the hangar until it rusted, then sold it anyway.

Could we just give the T2 ships a make over that makes them more then a T1 ship with a differnt collor.

Sure you can still show which hull it originated from but make it different from it´s T1 mother. show the modifications the Herron hull needed before able to to use a covert-ops cloaking device for example.

I always talked myself into thinking that the Moa looks like Godzilla from the side... :::shrug:::

I think the Caldari ships look like their corporate philosophy should lead you to believe. Its a matter of function over form. THey are utilitarian, functional and should just work. Who cares if they're pretty. Caldari wouldnt spend extra resources making them look good.

I took time off from the game for a few years. When I came back the first thing I noticed was they "fixed" my Scorpion and made it symetrical. At first I liked it. But the more I thought about it the less I liked it. I wish it had the old skin now. (It's still my favorite ship...) The Raven, on the other hand, is a non functional design in parts. Look at the bridge. Its hanging out front on a pod... like a carrot on a stick. No warship designer would have stuck their captain and bridge crew out in the open like that. It should be integrated into the hull and well protected.

I do, however, have to agree with one of the other posters. Gallente ships are far too bulbous and organic. Some are fine, some need a bit of a tweak and some... :::shudder:::. Gallente are sleek and efficient. Have you seen their racial captains quarters yet? The quarters and the ships are incongruous...

Minmatar ships... don't touch them. They SHOULD look like they were put together from spare parts. They're rusty. If there were sound in space they would rattle and creak.

You come into the world screaming, naked and bloody.  Play your cards right and that doesn't have to change...

Yeah that's kind of the problem with ship redesigns: aesthetics is mostly subjective.

Im just reading trhu the post here and all ive seen so far is much hate for caldari ships, some gallentean ships and the amarrian Apoc... What about the minmatar ships?

If we talk about redesining ships take a good look on the Tempest, the Typhoon!

But in the end all the 4 main races have som ships that are right trhu ugly, and some of them may be in for a facelift.
It just happens to fall on the Caldari to have most of the so called "ugly" ships.

I'm gonna chime back in on this thread to point out that the Revenant and Typhoon both look like ****. I mean literal pieces of ****. As in something you flush. Down the toilet. Yeah.

This thread appears to be back.

New thought is I was very happy with the Raven change - it kept the style of the original raven but brought it up-to-date quite nicely. As such I feel that a couple of changes keeping similar styles would be well-received, by me and others. For instance, my favorite hull in the game is the Typhoon. I honestly didn't even know people didn't like it until I got to this thread - it's just such an excellent design. In the case of the typhoon I think a new skin would make it perfect. With the tempest... I really like it, and it's iconic minmatar. However I feel like I could handle a re-design of the same type as the raven - keep the tempest pretty much the same, but maybe clean up some of the polygons, new skin, make the vents not bent, etc.

For some reason I find the ugliest ship in the game to be the Mach. The cynabal is up there too. They just seem like big ugly bugs that are bent all... wrong.

But seriously...your face! I mean, do you really think you should be giving an opinion on the aesthetic's of ship design with that ugly thing marring the forums?

Think of it this way, the tempest looks perfect, it kind of looks like it has a sail and pirate like, it also looks like a giant gun of sorts. perfect symbol of firepower. the rohk looks like a gun too, just look at the rails on it.

the imicus is ugly, but it kind of matchs its purpose, the catalyst makes sence.

all of the ships look like what there made for, and very few are just for looks.

sources? - i am a games developer student.

so i know this isn't going to stop rants, but actually look and think about how the ship looks and what it is designed for.
