I think it's a bit annoying that people can't learn to appreciate what they have... I like Caldari ships like the Raven mostly BECAUSE it's not symmetrical; it's not supposed to be some cookie-cutter design.

and Dominix is sooo cool, not sure why people hate it so much :/

NOBODY TOUCHES MY DOMINIX!!!!!

She's a beaut, she looks like she means business, she's got all sorts of interesting bits and pieces on her if you look closely AND she's got a little fat man made of window lights on the rearward-facing portion of the front bottom bulge.

Sooo funny these threads. I hope CCP takes no notice. The variety of the ship models in EVE is one of its most attractive features. If CCP were to do to the ships what they have done to the avatar clothing - i.e. made it all similarly boring and generically tv/movie s-f - if the ships all start looking like ******* penises with wings, I would definitely be out of this game.

It's not the asymmetrical design that is the problem with the Moa. It's just chunky and weird looking. It's sagging with its arse. Ugh It looks like it's designed to express "I'm unreasonably slow, I'm more of an ill designed building than an actual ship, I have no agility what so ever", etc.

I like the Raven (as mentioned before) - it looks like a bird. Being asymmetrical makes it in line with the typical Caldari design. I don't want the Moa to deviate from your typical Caldari design. But it should look like a flying machine - not the remains of a metal building after a nuclear meltdown. P

So what you basically are saying, is: even though a vast majority want a redesign of certain ships, CCP shouldn't take this into consideration, since it's one of the more "attractive features" (though only for a minority of the player base)? At least you should be consistent on this. I happen to like the avatar clothing, so you should hope for CCP to take no notice of the community's negative reactions to this feature, since it by some very few is considered an "attractive feature"... Roll

By the looks of it, you want CCP to shape this game based on your personal preferences - not based on the wishes of the community/player base as a whole.

Helios gets my vote. The Imicus hull looks like it has a bad case of scoliosis and algea growth as it crawls around space on one arm

I thought of this while reading this thread.

Idiots guide to changing **** in MMO's:

1) Ask lots and lots of different people what they like and what they dislike. Try and pull specific key words for easy tabulation.

2) Tabulate data. Look for patterns.

3) Don't do what majority dislikes; Do what majority likes. When in doubt or dealing with lack of majority, give options. (50% like a ship model, 50% hate it: FOR GOD SAKES GIVE ALTERNATIVE SHIP MODEL FOR THAT ROLE)

Alternatively: Do what you think is a good idea and say "F*CK YOU!" to scrub "customers" that disagree.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

Of course I bloody want CCP to shape the game based on my personal preferences, I couldn't give a flying **** what the community or playerbase wants as a whole. What are you a ******* Commie or something?

Meanwhile, CCP will do whatever they do, don't you know ...

Meh. This is clearly too subjective to get a ton of consensus. But were it up to me, these could all use work:

  • Raven
  • Imicus
  • Moa
  • Drake
  • Apocalypse
  • Stabber
  • Celestis
  • Osprey
  • Ashimmu

But that's just me. There was a time I wouldn't hesitate to put the Dominix on that list but it's grown on me enough to forgive it. The Apocalypse is my personal least favorite hull in the game but I know it has a serious fan base.

I would add the Griffin/Kitsune to that list too, it just looks plain odd and uneasy on the eyes. The Drake I am just bored to look at anymore and the Raven is not so bad but could do with a little help to enhance it.

Next dev or Gm to touch the appearance of caldari ships will get shot.Evil

Im serious.Attention

Leave them alone.AttentionAttention

That crap you did with a scorpion is ********.Oops

Old look was better. If it was to straight you could have just added a couple of pices like on Osprey.

IM SERIOUS.

LEAVE CALDARI SHIPS ALONE.

If other races want their ships changed or whatnot i dont care but leave the caldari ones alone. If i wanted simetrical i would fly amarr.........

Suprize us with the naga if posible... but good... dont let is be symmetrical we already have 2 symmetrical BCs and its stupid....

Give the domi, raven and tempest a higher texture res and that'll be fine. Don't go changin the shape of my melon man!.

I don't know why you don't like the ashimuu, it is one of the most spectacular ships in game IMO, same goes for the apoc and the stabber. The Domi is OK, I just wish that the Sin was a hyperion hull or a mega hull rather than the domi. A higher texture res would be satisfactory as the Domi lacks many of the curves and physical textures of other ships.

Brutix has that whole 'murder by blunt instrument' look to it. I love it. One of the most iconic hulls in the game. Maybe tge winter expansion will bring back some of her ability... (Geddon and Cane have looks that scream their function too).

Domiis ugly, but I love it. Tempest, Moa, Celestis, Imcus and Atron are just plain ugly. I guess its all subjective.

wait? whats wrong witht he Apocalypse and Ashimmu????

i do compleatly agree with the rest though

As said above I don't think the a ashimmu requires anything more than a small model detail boost maybe. HOWEVER there is one thing that has always bothered me.. Why does the bhaalgorn not have its own unique blood raiders model? Definatly think it needs it's own one, perhaps a battleship sized ashimmu inspired shape.
Never used a Mia myself. But I do fly basilisks and I think the model for that one is a bit odd.

For some reason I find the ugliest ship in the game to be the Mach. The cynabal is up there too. They just seem like big ugly bugs that are bent all... wrong.

I also like that some ships are assymetrical. Love the Moa. I would like *more* symmetrical ships but those are already on their way in.

Only one I would actually redesign, though, is vexor hull. It's assymmetrical, but so close to symmetrical that the assymmetry doesn't work. I'd personally redesign it by mirroring one side or the other.

Sansha ships need moar spikes.

At least 20% more spikes.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

The Moa is a dumpster fire, IMHO. It looks like...well, it looks like there was literally no rhyme or reason behind its design.
The Drake is cool, but it should be thicker. It kind of looks like a flatpacked IKEA table.
I will agree that the Dominix is a big ugly doofus, but that it looks like it flies. What does the Moa's purpose seem to be? Grinding meat? Setting up a camera? Who knows? Function should dictate form SOMEWHAT. Why would anyone want their ship to look like a dead turkey with bent legs?
The Imicus is truly awful. What's worse is that fancy covops ship you just trained for is both ugly AND gold.
The Cynabal looks like a pair of roller skates (with its big goofy engines being wheels).
I also agree with the Amarr carrier and SC looking like they had an accident in a handsaw.
The Thanatos is uneven and doesn't look as powerful as the other carriers. The bridge of it looks like a schoolbus.
Those are my opinions, anyways. :-P
Also, jungle camo looks stupid in space.

First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire.

I used to be in that camp on the Mach. This was another recent shift for me; I've actually grown quite enamored with it since I've started taking it out pretty regularly.

Vexors do bug me a bit. If I'm in an Ishtar it's almost guaranteed to be zoomed waaaaaaay out.

Oh, and for anyone who doesn't remember/wasn't around for the old Helios, please see here. I swear to god it was one of the best looking ships in the game and would pay seriously good cash to have that model back, goofy high slot layout be damned.
