A fix for nothing, all is well unless the CSM and CCP are working to fix it, in which case it's officially wrong and causes players to cry in outrage, and so is quickly and proficently being adressed by CCP with assistance from the players' representatives.

All is well in normal land, and what is not, it's being fixed. Keep calm and love EVE.

Log in on said character and check it's notification log. There should be a notification for each bounty given, which also shows the character that placed it. Tip for more lulz in the future: bounty their entire corp and declare war upon them.

I've probably logged into this toon, maybe three times since I created it. I went in to change her looks, and found a 100k bounty on her head. LOL I've never, EVER, undocked this toon. If It weren't for the fact that I was gonna change her appearance, I never would have seen it. Made me laugh. I must've really pissed that guy off in the forums. LOL

Way to misquote and twist what a person is trying to say. *mumbles under breath* damned politicians...

Anyway, here's my idea for a fix to the run-away-pointless-bounty problem...

Quote:
A bounty cannot be placed unless the toon to be bountied is in flagged as suspect or higher, and the one placing the bounty must be the victim of some kind of wrong doing. For example: You're mining and some guy comes along and pilfers one of your cans. Bounty him, (or blow him up, or both)!

I think if you create conditions under which someone can create a bounty, it would eliminate pointless, useless bounties. In other words, the guy putting the bounty has to be a victim of wrong doing. I'm sure that there would be a lot of things to figure out, but it's just an idea on how to get a hold of the situation.

As it is now, seeing "WANTED" blazoned across someone's portrait is meaningless. It's also unrealistic. CCP wanted to fix the Bounty mechanics problem from before, but the way it is, with these 100K bounties...

It used to be that when I clicked on a portrait out in the asteroid belts, and seeing "WANTED" on a portrait, sent me running in fear and dread of losing my Venture, and later my Retriever. But the thrill is gone. Now I see "WANTED" 100K isk, 0.1 sec stat, 0 standing, and the toon is only a month old.... What a waste.....

Anyway, my shift is over. Got to go home.... Log on and mine some rocks.

Do you think you should be able to bounty another player for:

1) Corp theft

2) Awoxing

3) Bumping

4) Saying rude or offensive things to/about you in a private channel

5) Being in a corp that's hostile to you

6) Spying

If so, please propose mechanisms for all of the above.

It's a serious question. If another player wants to spend a trivial amount of money on a bounty, what's your problem with that? It has no realistic gameplay effect on you, it doesn't confer the right to shoot at you, it means nothing unless you want it to.

Conversely the bounty system is extremely popular.

So what's the argument for radically altering the bounty system, which is intentionally and by design not linked to security status to allow players to sanction each other for crimes that CONCORD aren't interested in, and limit it to events that already incurr an in-game penalty; aggression flags, sec hits, CONCORD destruction, etc.

The tl;dr: there isn't one, it's not changing, stop being a miserable Minnie.

No to 3, 4, and 5.

I'm not a software engineer. I can't write code. I don't know what to propose. But that does not matter. I wasn't proposing that it be changed. I don't think CCP will invest the time to revisit the Bounty thing, again. Rather, I was thinking that it was too frivolous, and that it took away from the tension you felt when you first saw it.

Seeing "WANTED" on a portrait is more a fashion accessory than a warning of a dangerous capsuleer, and a chance for extra cash. You can't take "WANTED" on someone's portrait seriously anymore. That's what I was more focused on.

I was gonna say I din't call you any names, but then I just recalled my wisecrack about you being a politician.

In any case. I'm not miserable, nor a mini. I'm a full-scaled happy camper. But I don't camp.

You know what would be better than bounties? Putting out a contract to have someone taken out.

You'd have to go out to Null Sec, to some underworld trade hub that traded in illicit goods, and contracted hits.... So, It'd be dangerous to go out there to set up the job, and expensive. The NPC could be the broker, and just like Contracts in the "legal markets", a hit man/squad would have to put up some collateral to take the job.... Or not.... I don't know how you'd make that work, but that would be cool.....

I know, you can go to the forums and do that already, but that's out of the game. I mean in-game.

And even after three pages, it should just just stopped with:

Even after Retribution, the bounty system is still broken.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

3, 4, & 5 are just annoyances, not crimes that do harm to you or your corp. That's just how I feel, though. If you wanna put a bounty on someone because they said you can't tie your shoes... Then go ahead. The Bounty System, the way it works now, allows it.

But wouldn't it be better if the contract killer you hired sent an in game email to your intended victim? "I was hired to kill you, because you said, Mag's can't tie his shoes. Mag's was pissed because he don't wear shoes with laces. He wears shoes with buckles, and you didn't notice."

Why don't you understand that I'm just, "supposing"? "Suppose it was done this way instead of that way?" I know it's not going to change. I even stated in one of my earlier posts that I knew it wasn't gonna change. I don't expect CCP will even entertain the thought of revisiting this issue. Why can't someone just air out some ideas or theories or whatnot without some snooty, self important old-timer, forum troll coming in and pissing on everything other people think and say?

I just know that when you were a n00b, you had all kinds of ideas that, in your opinion, would help make the game better, and you posted your ideas and thoughts on the forums. You didn't expect the ideas to be acted on by the game developer, you just wanted to have conversation on your ideas and thoughts. I'm sure you didn't expect that some snooty, self important old-timer would come in and **** on your thoughts or ideas on a matter.....

Oh... I see now. This is your way of getting back at the even snootier, more self-important, even older-timers, who used to **** on your ideas..... Now you're a broken forum poster. You don't post your ideas or thoughts anymore. Instead, you go around and **** on the n00bs who have the telemetry to think that they can have a conversation about some ideas they have.... You've gone from an exited gamer trying to have fun talking about the game, to some disgruntled forum poster, and now you go about pissing on other people's conversations.

On top of all that, you're one of them CSM guys. You're suppose to encourage players to think of stuff to help the game get better, or your suppose to talk to CCP with problems people are having with the game, but what are you doing? Pissing all over my conversation. The irony...

I hope I don't become like you, a bitter, snooty, self-important old-timer, pissing on other peoples' ideas and thoughts. I hope, that unlike you, I'll remember that those other players are just having fun "supposing."

I don't think bounties are pointless - I view a bounty as a way to say "Yay!" to someone in the future. It adds that bit of extra joy to someone's killmail. Thus, I don't think they are useless for players outside of hi-sec. It's still an effective way to pass along a bit of encouragement - probably for something that was going to happen anyways, but every little pat on the back counts.

Yes. Mechanic should be as below. It already seems familiar, for some reason, though.

1) Right click -> Place Bounty

2) Right click -> Place Bounty

3) Right click -> Place Bounty

4) Right click -> Place Bounty

5) Right click -> Place Bounty

6) Right click -> Place Bounty

Also, allow me to add an additional reason:

7) Because I feel like it.

The mechanic will be familiar:
