It's a popular joke in starter systems. Fun to watch the new guys get all upset in local. Also, sorts out the noobs from the alts.

We just had a former corp member and long time vet rejoin after a long hiatus. He promptly put a 100K ISK bounty on all of us in the corp. Lots of lulz all around.

Praise the Bounty Lord!

1m? Really? I can feel your pain, so rich and with such crap bounty on your head (hint: you can use your Alts to put bounties on you instead of coming crying for that on my thread or other ones in this forum, you will not fish that much, believe me) Blink

My bounty was given to me in my first week of playing when I said Goons were irrelevant. The fact that it was only 100k kinda reinforced my opinion on the matter.

@ ACE McFACE - I really don't know what is bothering you that much to make you send me ingame mails and keep posting about this here and there, it's the value of the bounty? We can fix that for you.

Whats bothering me is the fact you keep saying you'll do something big because of all these broken bounties, but we all know nothing will happen.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Where did I say that? I'm a nobody, can't even do something small. Ugh

LoL, man, if you are so mad about my tinny bounty on your head use one of your Alts to raise it, make it huge, resembling a bad guy.

Jeshh, all this because 111.111 isk, not to talk you were supporting these mechanics before and now you call them "broken bounties"...

Next time, a link would be very appreciated because I NEVER said that.

my first character that I made about a week ago (and shelved for this one)...some dude put like 10k bounty on me. just 10k!

so in help chat, i say "is it common to get random bounties from nobodys?" response: "yeah". I'm like "ok, cool. just making sure." I go on about my business.

then the guy who bountied me opened up a chat and said "Give me 1.5 million ISK and i'll remove the bounty and you won't be hunted." (I'm thinking..."who is really going to hunt me for 10 thousand ISK?")

I considered putting a 5 million bounty on him for about 20 seconds(he had no bounty at all, and I figured it might hold some shock value to him, since I'm a relative noob), just for being a silly cheapskate (10k? he really tried to extort me with 10k?). then I decided against it since i only had 7 mill at the time(broke as a joke, son), and closed the chat without a word. then he put another 60k, and somebody from his Corp added another 100k.

never heard from him or his corp again.

wish I could remember who they were, so I can put them on my "when I get my skills and money up, they go boom" list for the future.

i haven't deleted the other guy yet, so i guess I can go look before I do.

can you even remove bounties at all, once they are placed?

I've been reading around the forums, and It seems the only way to get rid of a bounty is to get your uninsured cheap ship (up to or near the value of the bounty) blown up, again and again, until the bounty is gone. So, you might have a friend help you with that, or you can hang out in space somewhere, and log onto another account and fly your other toon to your bountied toon, and blow it up again and again, until the bounty is gone.

I've figured it's not really that big of a deal. As I travel in space, I look at ships and pilots that are parked around space stations, star gates, and in the same mine belts as me, and I've noticed that there are tons of toons with 100k or less than a million isk bounties on them. They seem to have 0.0 or higher security status, and have one or two corporations in their histories, and the toons are less than one year old. That means the bounties are pranks.

You can learn to just ignore it, and move on, or let it bother you. Eventually, my main is gonna get bountied, too. I'll just sigh and move on. I look at it as someone graffiting the side of someone's house, or toilet papering the neighbor's trees.... a bad prank...

Sorry for double posting....

How about this for a fix:

A bounty cannot be placed unless the toon to be bountied is in flagged as suspect or higher, and the one placing the bounty must be the victim of some kind of wrong doing. For example: You're mining and some guy comes along and pilfers one of your cans. Bounty him, (or blow him up, or both)!

You think that'll fix it, or just make more problems?

Minimum bounty on characters is 100k isk, so that's not possible.

There are people randomly assigning minimal bounties. Nobody is going to kill anyone for that amount of isk, so who cares.

Hell - even I put a 500 mill bounty on some sperging orca booster pilot in a system I was passing through just for giggles...

well, either way, the bounty was so small that I didn't really pay attention to it.

i just found it funny that the guy tried to extort me by using such a small amount if ISK.

No, he can't. This is CCP at work, they must live up to certain quality standards.Lol

Anyway, unclaimed bounties are reimbursed if the character getting them is unsubscribed for a long period of time, which is kept secret by CCP but probably ranges up to several months.

And yes, these are CCP quality standards at work, too. Go figure if people could get rid of bounties by unsubbing, they would be able to do something about this moronic feature. Same as if one could just withdraw an ill-thought bounty.
