When I check online only for my contacts in people and places none of them show up even if they are online. It's been a while since I've played eve but I remember there being a little green light on their portrait if they were online but I no longer see it. Is there a setting I'm missing? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

Edit: Think I figured it out they need to be on my watch list I guess?

Yup, watchlist.

I believe you have to add them to the watch list

Yes and no.

The People and Places > Contacts panel has a "Show Online Only" box, tick that to show online contacts only. Note this panel needs a (manual) refresh from time to time. People on the Watchlist will cause their portrait to appear in the bottom right corner when logging in / out.
