Hey everyone, we have a few new rule changes that will hopefully be uncontroversial and we are also clarifying a few things in the rules documents that have always been true but have not been documented properly or clearly before.

The official rules page has been updated with the latest version.

New or Changed Rules:

  • We're giving both teams 60 seconds to complete each banning step instead of 30. Thanks to the teams that helped us test the banning system on duality and gave us this feedback.

  • We're banning Target Spectrum Breaker modules for a couple reasons. For one thing, our cloaked camera clients get added to the calculation for the number of ships locking you, which means the module wouldn't act as one should be able to expect. Also, it can break the locks of our camera clients straight through the dev cloak.

  • Activating Micro Jump Drive modules before the match begins is not allowed. These things make you move when they start spooling, and so you'd get disqualified for early movement.

Clarifications or Documentation of Old Rules

  • Warping to the arena beacon from the entry beacon is only allowed in a limited period of time. Team members are advised to warp to the arena as quickly as possible after the command is given in local chat, or risk penalties. We have this restriction so that you cannot send one dude in to get a look at the hostile comp before deciding warp ranges for the rest. Been enforced since AT8, just getting it documented now.

  • Cargo containers, courier contract plastic wraps, and corpses are not allowed to be brought in ship cargo holds. We always enforced this rule to prevent people from trying to sneak stuff past us and because dropping secure cans mid-match was illegal anyways. Corpses get caught as collateral damage since they're in the same category.

  • Cynosural Field Generators are NOT allowed. Obvious reasons, also has been banned in practice for years just undocumented.

  • We've clarified that flagships can't fit module types that are illegal or illegal numbers of modules, just that they can fit high meta versions of legal modules. All non-metalevel related rules have always applied to flagship fittings. We've been getting some questions so wanted to make that clear.

  • All bans apply to both teams equally. Most of you who have played other games with banning know this already, but we got a few questions and realized it wasn't explicit in the rules. If you ban a ship neither side can use it for that match.

  • Clarified that although you can bring a flagship in matches where the flagship type is banned, you can't bring other copies of that ship. So if your flagship is a Geddon and they ban Geddons, you can still bring your flagship but you can't bring any other Geddons.

Per this wording you cannot declare a Loki as your flagship with faction reps. I doubt this would ever come up in the tourney, but can you confirm that you may not fit logistics modules on your flagship - even if it is one of the allowed logistics types, and the only ship with logistics module on your team?
Otherwise change wording to

This is confirmed in the rules. Flagships may only be battleship hulls (t1 or t2, but battleship only).

You have as long as it takes for the first player from either team to appear on d-scan from the arena centre.

Yep, there was a couple of issues with this at the weekend

We had perhaps had the whole team moved for 10 seconds and hadn't completed our module and link checks before CCP gargant was shouting at us in local and threatening penalties
