I'm sorry, i call them like I see them. This discussion is pretty worthless, but like all the people who post butt hurt about goons, you are empowering their stupid.

Oh well, it's your funeral as they say and I won't argue further, , but what you're doing is dumb.

While I agree with your overall sentiment that this ranting is pointless it is no different than players coming to rant about a feature or any other cause within this game to CCP. They do it because they enjoy the product or service offered. When something bad taints that image it's a fairly common reaction to let it be known. While yes it is very easy to skip over the posts, not read, say that they don't pay for the service(which isn't true), the actual point is that the customer is unhappy with the level of service.

They have made it known that they have tried to reach Riverini through his officially provided channels with no response. So they are choosing to elevate the issue. Whether that is the correct course of action is for neither of us to decide.

At the end of the day I feel that the OP and friends feel that the continued syndication of this author will and has significantly hurt the service, possibly to the point where they can no longer enjoy it. At the end of the day I see the OP trying to preserve a service they enjoy.

Of course this is an opinion, please feel free to skip it and not reply if it doesn't suit your tastes.

Not really. Goblin has no effect on myself personally and my enjoyment of Eve. Rather I find his articles a detriment in ways of influencing less experienced players simply because they don't know better.

Having been a former employee of riverini, I can tell you why he syndicates Gubbins on EN24.

Because he's bad. It's troll food. It feeds the click throughs and comments sections generating rivvy-poo money to pay the few people that do write fresh content for him.

Goblin suffers from WoW-itis. His whole lens is tinted by his experience there. For some reason he thinks that gold-capping toons in WoW means something. Some people were playing the auction house and making a mint long before Gubbins came alone and popularized it. Making Scrooge McDuck piles of ISK only matters to other people making piles of ISK. Accumulating ISK for the sake of accumulating ISK is just ONE way to play the game and have fun in Eve. To Gubbins, it's the world. I have more respect for the likes of Helicity Boson who find thoroughly entertaining ways of amusing themselves in Eve with scant resources.

That being said. Goblin, (shocking!) occasionally writes something that is not-shite. Although, a day or two after he will leave a stinky upper-decker that rivvy-poo will repost. Again feeding the trolls and unmoderated badposting in the comments section. Riv is a pro at being a one-man-band but even he can't do everything all the time.

You pretty much summed up the sad tale that is Goblin.

Funny you mention Hellicity. I haven't seen him around lately but he comes and goes. Like a leprechaun with a bazooka or something Shocked

I agree with the OP. Glevon Goblin is an absolute waste of space. He proves with every article that he knows nothing about EVE, does not listen to anyone else's opinions and has this thing about separating people into tiered categories (of which shockingly he is at the top). I like EN24, but there's more and more of these nonsense articles appearing on there, and I'm not bothering to go on there most of the time now. Now I just jump straight to the blogs like Jester's Trek, or onto alternative eve news sites.

At the end of the day EN24 wants to be seen as a serious news site, and these posts go directly against that image.

But you posted in his every single blog, and posted in a pretty lengthy way. I thought you were a very loyal reader as you ate through his every single word.

Yep, I do post on his blog, and I generally tend to read what he posts. I'm not one to talk about a subject which I haven't personally looked into, so I read, and I post, but from that it is clear that he has no interest in fact, only churning out post after post of egotistic bull.

Now that he is in TEST, he's added bias to his posts, so for the time being I'll continue to post to counter that bias in the comments.

Still, this is about EN24, which is a popular site and houses actual news, as well as writings from people well respected in the community, including CSM members. Reposting an article means they support the article. Reposting articles filled with nonsense mean they support that nonsense, and that's generally a bad position to take if you want to be taken seriously.

Countering negative idea is not a positive idea, but another negative idea. If you want to make your writing useful and worthwhile, make a blog and post things. And make your posts good enough that riverini has no choice but posts them.

Once I have some time to sit down and do it I will be starting to get my blog rolled out. But that changes nothing about this situation. Gevlon is feeding noobs incorrect information, and a site like EN24 should be reading what they repost.

Clearly many people have an interest in earning a few billion isk and station trading their balance up from there. I realize it's difficult for many people to do this.

As a special offer for this thread only, I will make you a deal. Anyone who invests in my game starting in the highest tier (3-5 billion) and references this thread in the comment field, I will provide personal coaching on how to trade the market with your winnings.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

There, cut to the chase on that post.

I've only visited that Greedy Goblin guy's blog once a few days ago after reading a thread about him in the Missions and Complexes forum (the OP seemed about as butt hurt about Gevlon as you do).

So I went to the blog and read how he used a Cheapfit Marauder with dualboxed logi to do missions and make isk. The tone of the article was fairly smug and imo arrogant, as if it were the greatest PVE thing anyone had ever thought of when in fact something like Dual Boxed domis (w/sentries), typhoons, RR cheapfit wormhole style Tengus or Ravens (supporting with FoF missiles) would have been both cheaper and much MUCH more effective. I didn't like the experience of reading his blog post.

So I, Jenn aSide, Empress (yes Empress because of white girl avatar) of General Discussion came up with this unique, never before heard of, never before tried, totally experimental plan to solve the problem.

I shut down the browser window that had the blog post on it....then I didn't ever go back again. You should maybe try that too.

I expect my noble prize for awesomeness to be in the mail shortly, because no one has ever conceived of a plan such as mine!

Yeah, that is the solution. However (yes, there's a however) EN24 is one of 2 main news sites, and they have opposing bias, so generally it's best to read both. EN24 chooses to post Gevlon's nonsense as a news article. That's what the complaint here is about.

As EN24 don't seem to respond to the mass of complaints on it's site about Gevlon, someone chose to raise the topic here. I fully support it and think EN24 should stop publishing Gevlon's articles. He will still get his supporters on his blog and they can go chat nonsense all the want.

TMC isn't really that biased, one senior editor is in a pirate corp, one is in test, plenty of writers are other alliances including pl and ncdot along with some independents. The only section of the site that is entirely written by Goons is world of tanks.

Let me see if I have the quote. Well I had his blog a view to get it, so be grateful. I didn't do it for you...
Quote:
Stealth bombers are great ships, they can decimate whole fleets in a bombing run. They can move undetectable, they can jump to covert cynos, they can light cynos and they can do many more. Grinding down multi-million HP Sov structures is not among them. Making people fly "siege fleets" has the same effect on their willingness to log in again as making them fly remote-repping Rokhs.

Note: After a couple weeks of running nigh-non-stop Siege fleets, we were keeping numbers of ~100, and in peak times reached 160 in fleet at a time.

Oh god. He was also just mentioned as a side joke in an EN24 article as being manager of Test finances. The article was about Test being robbed again lol... my sides. Oh my sides.

Maybe he'll pull a fast one on them and nab some loot? That's what I would do. The 120 bil the logi director just ran off with isn't a bad haul at all Twisted

You know your Alliance is in the shitter when the likes of Gelvon Goblin funds your war.

I'd be interested to see of this is true. If it is well color me purple because I'm choking on dinner cause I'm laughing so hard.
