If you get podded in high sec when you're at your computer you have to be a special kind of bad.

it takes special type of idiot to make remarks like this to a rookie. I wont say anything new to what has been told so far, report idiot and you can also find some friendly vets like f.e. Cannibal Kane, they are always willing to make eve-life really hard to ppl griefieng newbs :)

yeah I saw someone like this bating people like a suspect mining frigate and a battlecruiser. However it hard to report someone in game since there isn't a drop down option. including one would make it much easier (and probadly much more abused).

The argument was done to death in the thread I linked.

The fact remains that older players challenging newbies in rookie systems is regarded as griefing.

End of.

End of? Who are you arguing with? lol

I'm not arguing with anyone.

Read my post again.

No need, got it the first time. Of course its considered griefing, possibly the most obvious kind of griefing.

Point is, it's extremely easy to avoid and some of us prefer to simply protect ourselves rather than rely on reporting people and hoping something is enforced down the line.

My buddy and I were heading out last night for low sec mining and someone challenged his trial account character in a Venture to a duel. Think the right advice is to accept the duel because you dont want to miss a possible newb learning experience, or just not accept an obvious trap? Roll

You've been playing EvE for 6 years and gate camping is the best idea you can come up with? XD

On the contrary, the rest of your post clearly shows that you haven't "got it" at all.

Never mind - I'm not going to fuss over it.

Probably the best idea. This is any exceptionally easy concept to grasp, not sure I understand the desire to be stubborn about it.

Have a great day!

BRAND new player here. I feel for the OP, but isnt this an extremely easy problem to avoid?

I'm still in the rookie zones and get duel requests and see floating pods all the time.

Just avoid them like the plague. I always assumed that they were bait for trolls, glad I never got tempted! XD

Here's a new player that truly belongs in EvE. It is distressing to see others lament on how they have been wronged, taking little responsibility for their own contributions to their loss. We need more new players like Jayor!

Well if you don't know I'm sure I don't as you're the one being stubborn. Roll

Just to sum up:

The arguments for and against were all made in the other thread and don't need repeating here.

None of that alters in one iota the fact that the practice of older players using this to bait newbies in newbie systems is banned.

Seriously dude? lol

No one is arguing that its not banned. What I AM saying is that its easier to avoid the problem than cry and pout on forums about a a choice I made and have to create a ticket to report people after the fact.

"Make whatever dumb mistake you want and complain to CCP about it later" isnt the advice I expected to see seasoned players giving out in the help section, but I guess whatever has been working for you...

So is avoiding can baiting, but that too isn't allowed in rookie systems.

The point is that even though some people think "rookies should learn to PvP asap" there isn't much to learn from 4 year old character killing rookies with max skilled Enyo. Other than "how to lose your ship".

Couldnt agree with this more.

Which is why when I'm challenged to a duel I take the 15 seconds to pull up their player and ship info. "Oh, you've been playing Eve since 2005? And you're dueling outside the rookie start station?" Ya, I think I'll pass. Lol

They have to draw the trolling line somewhere and this seems like a good place for it. My only point is that if you're grabbing random cans floating 500m outside of the station that you start in or spamming the accept button to any incoming duel request, then you have contributed at least 50% to whatever the outcome is.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but there is in fact an option in the settings that allows you to auto-reject duel requests. It is very useful if you are not confident in your abilities as a pilot. You could most likely use that a while until you are comfortable with your gameplay style and the ship you are flying.
