Look at it this way bro, Real Life forces people to be sweet and warm, or make a very convincing show of being so. Where people share a common fate they treat each other like gold. The aim of civilisation has been to relieve us from exactly those pressures. People unable to at least show a minimum of decency really suffer terribly.
EvE, a game, is an environment without those pressures, people are free to indulge their meaner impulses without the consequences associated normally and with no pressure existing to encourage a higher mind.
It's not as if EvE attracts just the bad people, it doesn't. It's not like EvE turns good people into villians. I've found the opposite with roleplaying environments. A role played eventually slips and under any pressure people revert to type.
Once you get this you can embrace it and enjoy it on it's own terms.

Incursion runners are the cunts of EVE, don't worry about it.

You'll find that PVP players tend to be the more humane bunch, find a nice corp and enjoy New Eden :)

Yes, PvP players are wonderful people....
Like when Mittens suggested that thousands of people harass a guy so he commits suicide, or listen on soundcloud to that wonderful human being Grath.....

Yeah, PVP people are wonderful.

Because making generalizations about tens of thousands of people based on the actions of a handful is really classy.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Sorry but is this a troll or something?

Evaluate the personalities of the people you play with. Pick and choose to associate yourself with those who clearly would not screw you over or ditch you for stupid reasons.

Generally if you want to guarantee this, join corps and associate with people who have lives. Job, wife, kids, hobbies... be weary of those who have nothing to do all day and those who don't divulge much personal info.

Truth be told there are a lot of very good communities in EVE, where these paranoia's of being scammed or screwed or back-stabbed don't even exist. You just have to find it.
