Looks like another underhanded trick by CCP, perhaps somebody who does know about Steam and Eve at CCP should comment on it.

I think what this specific complaint is about is what the Steam Store shows when you search for "EVE." (imgur link with problem highlighted: http://imgur.com/M16WZaP)

Basically, since the free trial is no longer available through steam, someone needs to get the Steam Store to yank that result. I don't think it was malicious, just an oversight.

Just an FYI Miilla: Even if a trial account were still available through Steam, you still wouldn't be able to receive the cards drops without purchasing the full account through Steam. Steam Trading Card drops are tied to full activation/ownership of the game. If steam decided to do a free weekend for Tomb Raider (another game with Steam Trading Cards), people who were playing it for free that weekend would not be eligible for card drops, unless they decided to purchase it.

You tried adding EvE as a non-steam game? If it worked it would pop up on steam whenever you run EvE.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.
