Sound problem since new patch 1.1.3?

Hi folks,

I'm having a problem with sound repeatedly cutting out, which seems to have started since installing today's patch.

If I click the Audio Enabled box in the Escape Menu, EVE freezes up altogether.

I'm running EVE through Wine 1.3.31 on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.

Has anyone else experienced this or, better still, can anyone suggest a solution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Wine do you have? I know that they changed the sound management there too.

I have latest wine and no sound problem in 1.1.3.

I'm also using the latest version - Wine 1.3.31 - I shall have a try with the earlier stable version 1.2.3 and see if that makes a difference.

So... that could have gone more smoothly. Long story short, I've reinstalled both Wine (1.2.3) and EVE, and the problem seems to be solved.

They changed the way audio works in 1.3.25. They have completely rewritten the wine audio core since then and if you have been using pulse with some kind of weird alsa / oss emulation then there would be surely drastic issues.

They even wanted to implement a native pulse driver. But since I do not use pulse, I cannot say if it works.

Thanks Miraqu, that's interesting to know. Weirdly, 1.3.31 seemed fine until earlier this week. Hey ho, all's well that ends well.
