The Golden Masque - Opening

With the rapid approach of the eleventh Alliance Tournament, we would like to extend an open invitation to the grand opening of a new establishment, based in the system of Yulai.

The Golden Masque was envisioned as an experiment. Although maintained and operated by Tyrathlion Interstellar, the goal is of a complete politically neutral ground; not merely a place to kick back, but a place to explore and experience.

At its heart, the Masque is a combined restaurant and amphitheatre; the centrepiece is a holo-projector which will be showing the tournament, but has many other uses. We're examining the possibilities of Mindclash, films - and of course, music, with a retractable dance floor to match.

The holo-system is not limited to the main projector; the Golden Masque is fully holo-compatible, so anyone with an authorized Neocom account can log in and visit, no matter where they are in the cluster. As absolutely neutral territory, all are welcome to visit, including those of Sansha's Nation. However, part of our agreement with CONCORD authorities requires that due to the risk of nanite contamination, all known Sansha operatives be restricted to accessing the establishment via holoprojection only.

As for rules, we expect people to behave in a reasonable fashion. While I'm sure we have all encountered a situation where we have found ourselves sharing a room with an enemy, violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We have been selected by CONCORD as one of several local establishments to trial-run a number of prototype non-lethal security systems, and while we would prefer not to put them to use, troublemakers will be dealt with appropriately.

The first match of the Tournament kicks off at approximately 13:30 this Saturday, so we will be opening the doors an hour earlier at about 12:30 EST.

We look forward to seeing you for the Tournament!

Kind regards and safe flying,

Sounds promising, I'll see if I can't drop in around matches.

Unfortunately, although my initial desire was to block Nation from entry, it would make a mockery of the intended goal. My hatred of Sansha is hardly a secret, and I wrote that line with gritted teeth, but nevertheless I had to make a choice between 'true neutrality' and 'personal tastes'.

Howevermuch I may find the idea ridiculous, Nation has its sympathisers as well as its loyalists, and to exclude the toasters would be to the detriment of the whole project.

Neutrality should apply solely to formally-recognized legal entities, not those pirates and criminals whom are enemies of all of the CONCORD signatories.

Except all of those groups are formally-recognized entities, legal or not. CONCORD recognizes their existence, and even acknowledges their sovereignty claims. That they are "the enemy" of the CONCORD signatories does not change this. I would also suggest that you check the actual definition of the word 'neutrality' - you are not using it correctly.

Make no mistake, Aspirant Kernher - there is absolutely zero intention on our part to play nice should any party, regardless of loyalty, start causing trouble, and frankly, we'll both be more than pleased should Nation loyalists avoid the place like the plague. Their extremely limited access is extended merely as an experiment on our part, and neither of us have any qualms with revoking access for the entire lot should even one of them **** up.

We checked with station law enforcement when determining our security policy: the response we were given is that if we were going to allow access to Nation affiliates (something neither of us particularly cared to do in the first place, but see further down), that that was the absolute most we would be able to do without getting mired in all sorts of liability red tape. Luckily for everyone else, it means fixing the problem should they cause any is as easy as flicking a switch, and poof - no more access, period. For any of them.

(But riddle me this while you're at it: In the five years that I have spent as a capsuleer, it wasn't usually capsuleers loyal to the main CONCORD signatories that were the most well-behaved and capable of following rules in public establishments.)

Given that we are timing the opening of the venue to provide a place for anyone and everyone to enjoy the Alliance Tournament in a holoprojection field specifically designed for this type of broadcast, it was judged appropriate that we allow anyone to attend the opening weekends.

When the Tournament is concluded, we may revisit this subject. I, however, think you may be making Titans out of single chunks of Tritanium - with the Golden Masque located in a CONCORD station in Yulai of all places, I would expect that most 'outlaws' will, if they do not avoid the place outright or elect to use holoaccess, be on their absolute best behavior and avoiding any possibility of doing anything that could cause trouble.

A masque! I've always wanted to attend one such event... So unfortunate I already scheduled system-wide repairs for that day. I shall pray it all goes excellently well, however.

Though sport is not one of my regular pastimes to watch or play, perhaps I shall drop in, as watching is usually accompanied by small salted snacks.

Any specific dress code that needs to be observed when visiting?

Specific? No, not particularly, unless we are hosting an event where a specific dress code would be appropriate.

In general, shirts, some form of pants (yes, skirts are acceptable for you nitpickers out there) and shoes minimum, honestly. If you want to dress up or get fancy, feel free. While I'm at it, I should also mention that in case it wasn't clear earlier, no weapons of any kind are permitted on the premises with the sole exception of station security personnel.

I would personally suggest going by the rule of thumb that if it might cause trouble walking around the station in it, then it probably would be best not to wear it.

Sounds like quite the venue and I wish you all the best in its success.

I look forward to seeing the launch.

To clarify and extend on this point, the Masque will, for the course of the Tournament, be themed around that. Upon its conclusion, there will be a regular cycle of themes and events of all kinds (which people are welcome to contribute ideas for). Due to the nature of the architecture, and the extensive holo-generators, we can literally reconfigure, redecorate and redesign with ease.

I will not elaborate further on that for now. Best to see for yourselves!

Never been one to go to parties and clubs (Former fighter pilot and current combat capsuleer and all), but this seems rather interesting. I'll make an effort to show up, if not in person then by holo. Hell, I may make a few contacts while I'm at it, help me out in my new job. I look forward to this.

We'll be opening the doors in just under an hour.

We had a few people over to help finish with calibrating the projection fields last night, so everything should be all set and ready to go!

For those who want to drop by but cannot spare the travel time - or are going to be busy in-capsule - feel free to connect to the FTL node "The Golden Masque" for holoprojector access.

Hope to see you there!

Edit 12:49 EST: We're open!

I may drop by sometime - naturally by holo, since I spend ninety percent of my time in a wormhole.

Day Two's series of 32 matches starts soon! 16 teams will be eliminated today, so you don't want to miss today's matches!

We've arranged the teams' seating areas around the holofield so that you'll be sitting nearest to where your team starts in the arena when a match begins.

If you need a reference of what teams are where, consult the consoles in the tables - they will bring up a map for you.

Despite showing up late to the event on both days, it was rather entertaining to watch the various matches.

The venue is most impressive and I look forward to attending more events there.

Thanks to everyone who came along for the weekend - as opening days go, especially when combined with relatively slow matters like the tournament as opposed to many opening parties, it's been very successful.

We'll be remaining open all week, with the holosphere showing a mix-up of highlights and replays for any that missed the live events. Next weekend, things will of course be heating up as more teams are eliminated, and we hope to see all of you there then. Then, for the final weekend, we have a few special plans to celebrate with.

Just a quick reminder, everyone: the Golden Masque will be continuing with its live broadcast of the Alliance Tournament when things kick off tomorrow. The first match is scheduled for 1500 EST, with some early Fourth District and CVA matches. We look forward to seeing you there.
