Caldari or Amarr, missiles or turrets

I have a choice to make between these two. I want to do well in missions to get money and also be wanted in pvp for when i join a corp.

I asked in help if missiles were viable in pvp, and the answer was a no, too slow they said. Are caldari ships with missiles viable and useful in pvp? (you can include griffen, Blackbird, and scorp) Or should i just go gunnery and Amarr? Would it be best if i went missiles, and when it came to fleet or gang action, jump into an ECM boat? Would they kick up a stink about it?

Thanks!

I am playing Caldari, and I do not regret the missiles, the range is beautiful and can overwhelm some targets.

Gunnery based weapons hit the target pretty much as soon as you hit the fire button.

Missiles however take a few seconds to reach their target, which is why they aren't favoured for pvp
The argument is basically "the target can die whilst your missiles are still travelling to it"

I'm not saying that missiles are never used, just they are they are not preferred.
Solo or small gang you can pretty much use whatever you want
fleet based is usually decided by the FC, and FC's get snippy when you don't follow instructions

Do you think a FC would mind if i bought ECM boat, but it was equipped with missiles?

FC usually love ECM boats, including Griffins; however they are expected to provide ECM, not damage. Any damage you might provide is a plus, but as long as you ECM the right targets and stay alive, most FCs don't care what you fit in your high-slots.

BTW, staying alive can be a challenge. ECM boats, especially Griffins, are pretty much always called primary. They are very fragile and extremely annoying, so you'll have to learn a lot of tricks just to avoid going boom.

My advice is fly whay pleases you. For missions missiles are the best great projection and you can pick your damage types. Caldari pvp is not as bad as you are lead to believe. Yes miissiles have flight time. But they always hit if they are within range. So for insta sniping they lack. Lasers on the other hand also have good projection with scorch but they use emence cap and are stuck with em and thermal damage. If you like small gang and want to fly ecm ships and become good at it. You will be a benefit to your fleet and generLy trolled or hated by enemies but that just means your winning. Overall anything is usable in pvp. It just comes down to play style. The only reason there are so called best ships is because large alliance have success with certain doctrines thaf are easy to train and blob. And all of the simple minded mmo kids from this generation chomping at the bit for a easy mode solution automaticaly think it must be the best for everything. But its not. When it comes down to small gang pvp the ability to follow direction and pilot a ship. Not orbit is what makes a good player. I have seen giants killed by fleas. Like I said fly what pleases you and ultimatly you will be happy.

Amarr can use missiles (Armageddon, damnation, etc) and caldari can use turrets (moa, eagle, rokh, etc), so race is pretty irrelevant here.

Missiles are still viable in PVP, Talwar and drake fleets are pretty common, they just lack the instant damage.

Caldari and their missiles are very viable for PVP. PVP is about the pilot, not the race or the ship. Do not let anyone tell you different.

Caldari, all the way. Best ECM hands down and missiles never miss. If it's in range, you hit it. That simple.
