Don't worry they wont find out.

Oh! Just as long as you absolutely dont go on the forums and draw attention to it that is of course.

As long as you dont do that you'll be fine!

There are three ways a killmail can end up on the internet.

1. You manually post it to a killboard.

2. You or your corp has an automatic feed linked to a killboard.

3. If there are other players on the KM, they manually post it or have an automatic feed.

It sounds like this was just an NPC mistake, so #3 can be disregarded. #1 sounds unlikely given the situation, but #2 is a very real likelihood - a CEO sees all killmails produced by members of his corp, and can either choose to manually post them or set up an automatic feed linked to a given killboard.

tl;dr - hope your CEO doesn't notice, or hasn't set up an autofeed.

If you were killed by rats (as in NPCs) you're probably safe. A KM with only NPCs can't be posted to kill boards afaik.

Now, if another player was involved, that's a whole nother matter.

i think hes afraid of people in his corp finding out about the loss. the ceo and any directors can see the killmail if they bother checking them so if they see it then yes people in the corp will know and there is nothing he can do.

i never look at losses to rats as a huge deal, yes they are embarasing but they dont show up on public record as explained by others here so you only have to deal with some teasing from corpmates.

Ehem... everybody here (Edit: but Zanzbar, who posted while I was typing) seems to have forgotten about in-game killmails.

Every member of your corp can see every kill-mail generated by corp-members. They are all in the "Corp->Wars->Kills" tab, including PvE losses. There is nothing you can do to prevent that. However, if this thread is any indication, most players seem to have forgotten about that and only look at the online kill-boards, which don't post PvE losses.

CEOs and Directors in corporations can see all of the kills and losses the members of their members take regardless of whether or not NPCs were involves. There's no way you can prevent your CEO from finding out.

Also post with a proper character already.

BTW, why did Zanzbar & Vimsy specify "Directors" ? I am pretty sure that any corp member can see the corporate kill board.
(At least that's the case both in NPC corps and in the player corp my main is in.)

we specified directors and ceo as they have traditionaly been the only ones who can see all corp mails. however this has changed with this years updates to the ways wars are handeled so forgive use if any info is slightly outdated.

A loss of a nice ship to NPCs? Don't worry, someone will find it...

Example: http://throughnewbeyes.com/2013/02/26/npc-losses-week-1-the-scope/

"So CCP recently let all members of a corp view all the corp’s kills/losses. Before Retribution, you needed to be a Director. As a result of this, a character in an NPC corp can now view their kills and losses.

Including losses to NPCs, which normally don’t appear on killboards (they’re not API fed)

So welcome to the first week of NPC losses! I’m using my alt to show some rather choice lossmails. First off, some losses in The Scope from the last 2-3 days.

Feast your eyes on some of these. I’ve picked a mix of bad fits and expensive losses!"

Big smile

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. …"

Don't hide stuff from your corpmates... If you don't have trust what do you have? It starts with hiding, goes on to lying and ends in drama among friends or corp theft. Be honest about what happened. If they laugh at you or make fun of you that corp is NOT worth your time and dedication and you should leave it. If they show understanding and respect on the other hand it will strengthen your bond further.

Make this a test for you, them and the corp. Draw conclusions afterwards.

Guys, everyone in the corp can see the kill, corp api wont post it to a KB, as npc kills dont automatically gets pulled, but you can still manually post NPC kills onto a killboard given you have the killmail available, something everyone in his corp has.

Assume they'll find out whatever you do, and act accordingly. Any losses you suffer become part of the corp's record, even if they don't get automatically posted to out-of-client killboards.

A few reasons actually.
First being embarrassment I lost a 6/700m ship
Second being we are a null sec corp that has some prime anom/farmed real estate, and I decided to grind lvl 4's for some LP's.
In short I lost a tech 3 faction fit cruiser to rats making not much more money that I would soloing anoms in my oracle.

I don't see how being involved in a corporation that is so damn serious that you are worried about things like this can be any fun at all. Tell the CEO to eat a bag of penile shaped things if they have a problem. You lost your own ship, didnt you?
