It's stupid to punish those who do the most damage and force the target to jump out, only to be excluded from the kill by their aggression timer.

For a game that is advertised mostly with its exciting pvp, the whole kill report stuff gets way too little attention. Every crappy singleplayer RPG has a ton of stupid achievements that can be unlocked, but in EVE where such things actually matter, the kill reports are often totally inaccurate.

It would also be cool if more things were recorded, like who had first point on the victim. Now that would be something for the hero tacklers who typically do little damage but are the ones who make kills possible in the first place.

maybe HP repped from logibros too? Though, TBH, my "km" is the bad guys not getting a km on our guys ...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

This is an excellent idea, especially the part where everyone that contributed to the kill get on the mail and not just the people who were on the right side of the gate...

Could we please make it so that the killmail is in every characters sheet of those who contributed to the kill?

And now that logoff timers persist in different systems, shouldn't people shooting a ship on one side go on the killmail if the ship is killed on the other side shortly after?

Not before they rework the Killlog. Finding specific Kills is a Pain in the ass.
One should be able to apply filters like battleship, cruiser etc.

Agreed, there are more pressing issues with the kill sheet than not showing involved party kills. There to be more history, browsing filters, and the ability to link corporate/alliance/personal kill logs. Killboards are such a popular thing nowdays that there is no excuse to not integrate it in game.

I think it makes sense to build out the feature a bit, considering how big of a focus PVP is in the marketing/etc of EVE it might be worth being a secondary feature in an expansion. That way everything could be tackled at once; everybody gets the killmail (including logi if you're repping somebody on the mail), both sides of the gate, etc.

Everyone should be on the killmail. The guy who mined the ore to build the ship. The guy who invented the guns that went on the ship. The guy who turned in his LP to get the faction ammo that went in the guns. The guy who ninja salvaged the missioner who turned in the LP to get the ammo because the salvage he brought back to station was built into rigs that were fitted to the ship. The Red-Frog pilot who dragged the ship to the nearest high-sec station so that the pilot could get into it. The corp-mate who moved the ship from high-sec to low-sec as well as the guys who scouted him in. If we're not all on the killmail, then there shouldn't be a killmail.

You're assuming that the killmail will get posted. Sometimes this is not true.

Take FW for example. Some pilots there don't even know that killmails exist and, if they aren't in your corp, you could have some difficulty teaching them how to post one.

As for server load, I have no objection to the killmail being delayed till downtime if that's what it takes to keep things running smoothly.

This is why I heavily endorse API linking to a killboard that is used by a good deal of the community in general, like eve kill. It's not really that important to me that mails get posted but I know a lot of people like it so I contribute without having to put in more than minimal effort, by API linking.

I don't bother to post mails either but the API will handle that for me which also means...get ready for this...I post my losses too. I kinda danced around it in my last post but I'll just come out and say it now, the only real reason you would need the mail to show up in everyone's combat log is for a boost to the pilot's e-peen. I've actually heard people say that the thing they don't like about massive fleets in 0.0 is that it makes their combat log look depressing because they have credit for 2000 kills with only 20 or so final blows and about 20 pages of losses. Bottom line is it's just not that important, I know I have some kills that I contributed to that ended up being killed by another 3rd fleet altogether that I never see and so what? If you really want to see page after page of final blows it can be done.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.
