Brave Newbies provides proof for why E-UNI equates stagnation to success

Brave Newbies started doing things! YAY!...

Their recruitment is an an all time low!... DOH!... wait... what?!?

Brave is learning what E-UNI seems to have known all along:
If you want to focus on new players, it takes corp and alliance wide sacrifices.

So your saying E-UNI is better? Is that what you are on about?
No, The #1 reason people leave the UNI after graduation is that they finally feel prepared to "DO SOMETHING!"

Brave Newbies start DOING SOMETHING on day one. But doesn't seem to be able to manage significant recruitment while deployed in Null.

My Prediction?
A Failscade for BNI in the near future unless they find a new strategy.

E-UNI will continue to be the rock it has been, perhaps in the years to come, they may start slowly evolving but will certainly be avoiding unnecessary risk. And that might just be missing the whole point of EVE in the first place.

TL:DR
The light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, [BNI].

Thank You Obama!

They may leave E-UNI, but E-UNI purpose is to teach all things EvE...and you NEVER stop learning (well, except for mouth breathers).

I have 3 of their web pages open as it is.

That is doing something much more important.

Maybe a summer lull in activity? I heard a rumour that there was this thing called "outside" and didn't require a launcher to sign in.

Truth of the matter is their strict requirements to join. I thought about it when I started, but that much cross checking (and not just to keep the PvP trolls out) decided to find a boot camp elsewhere. It's like in WoW, a guild with an application (especially not a top 25 raid guild) is a turn off, and fewer folks will join due to all the hassle.

Their website is informative, as well as the forum discussions on topics. And in the end that's all I really needed, and there's plenty to read! Shocked

Indeed.

This is almost as bad as the other thread he created. And all I remember of that one was that he almost vomited. Truly, this guy has first world problems.

Dumb. The whole thing is dumb.

All this trouble just to be a noob and play a PVP game.

Noobs should just join the unofficial alliance of highsec and help in the fight to burn nullsec to the ground (shakes fist).

Go to nullsec and start shooting the bears you find there. It's easier than you think.

If you are an alt of anyone in either of these corps, then that is proof enough of their imminent demise. If you were booted from either, then it's proof they are both doing just fine.

EvE is supposed to suck.  Wait . . . what was the question?

My first fleet in BNI was when we deployed out of the home system. Part of it was fun, for what it was. But people kept going out of their way to talk about "sensitivity" "being tolerant" and "white privilege" and not kidding there was a black guy on coms saying things like "I'm going to smack dat fool" to other BNI members? I guess because he's a minority?

I knew it was a reddit guild when I joined but it was too political for me. I know at least a few people felt the same as me, later that day? Maybe the next day we got e-mails that all the ISK was AWOXED

Quote:
RAVE Collective,

It has come to our attention that one of our alliance leaders, Illfay Onren, has awoxed the corporation for 10.05 Billion ISK. This character was able to leverage his alliance roles to steal from Brave coffers. Here is the breakdown of his heist:

POS ASSETS: 1.2B ISK
LIQUID ISK: 3.95B ISK
FITTINGS (non-deployment): 4.9B ISK

Although this traitor absconded with a significant amount of ISK, I want to assure everyone that due to our separation of roles, our wallet was minimally affected, our corporation operations are not significantly impacted, and our alliance remains stronger than ever. Alliance leadership has previously implemented measures to reduce future ISK theft, however more action needs to be taken.

We have recognized the need to mitigate this problem. We are currently performing a 100% role review, and have effectively removed all alt accounts from performing administrative functions for the alliance. Furthermore, all future roles will be granted by the BRAVE Council pending a majority vote. Lastly, we are instilling a review process which ensures that personnel that step down will no longer have access to the rights they were previously allowed to perform.

We are committed to providing the best damned sandbox available to our members, and will not tolerate malfeasance of any sort.

Well even in PvE centric games like WoW there's a lot of studying to due per class (if a player wants to be more than just a carried). Unlike EvE where stats and all don't change frequently, players in WoW have to keep up with everything like every 90 days now per class/per role. Sites like Wowhead, Noxxic, Arenajunkies, World of Logs and Elitist Jerks (and some other popular sub-class sites) become required reading and studying.

It's a misnomer to consider WoW these days is "Hello Kitty" if you play at a higher level -- half of what players will be doing is "book learning".

I say this because in comparison to WoW EvE is more simple to play, because there's really no requirement to study. Advice given is just hop in a ship and just "do it". Where if a player in WoW does just that, he's screamed at as being a fail at level 13 when he enters his first public queues...because he will fail, as he didn't study his class, role, and gear to be optimal. Dungeons there is like missions in EvE, it's designed to teach you what you need to learn about your abilities and roles, and before you show up at a raid or fleet and not know what the hell to do.

Also, the fear of dying in either isn't the problem in games like WoW (play a PvP healer you'll understand real well how it's to die!!!), it's the fear of getting behind.

To be good at what you do, you have to invest time in studying what you want to do. And it's beyond just "hands on" training. When a WoW player comes in EvE and is doing EFT builds for EvE players pretty early in their "career" as a pilot, as the EvE players don't understand the tools or the stats, yeah, EvE needs to get the E-UNI studying out more to the population. It trains a more rounded pilot.

It's not the harshness that teaches well, it's the combination of book learning and direct experience.

I was there when we had the white supremacist on comms, it was a political discussion that quickly degraded and we banned him when he started throwing out racist comments. With such a large alliance it's to be expected that there will be some rotten apples, but the issue was taken care of quickly.

As far as the corp wallet awoxing goes, it was quite unfortunate. Illfay was one of the founding members of BNI, was inactive for several months. Hell, I have been a fleet commander for BNI for almost 2 months now and didn't even know the guy existed. Luckily our assets are compartmentalized so that one single person can't steal everything. Our ship replacement program was unaffected, nor was the strength of our alliance.
