bad streak in pvp

So as of late I've had the worst run in pvp. I like to think of myself as a decent solo pvper but a month ago I joined the amarr militia in order to have some good fights and good fun but I'm ashamed to admit it but I've not won a single decent fight since I joined. Seriously it's starting to get really terrible. I lost my malediction against a crow. I lost an arty wolf against a firetail cos I landed in scram range. I lost my dual asb jag whilst chewing through an incursus when his buddies showed up. Arbitrators, ruppies, executioners, kestrel, rifters... I just can not catch a break.
I'm trying to resist the urge to break out the few remaining shinies I have or throw isk at the problem cos well i don't have much.
So c+p how do you break your bad luck streaks? Surely I'm not the only one who has them!

try and stick with 1 type of ship so you get used to it again?Shocked

learn your optimals,
learn what your ship can or cant do

dont loose what you cant afford
spam local to see whats ships are about

if im right the crow just span around in circles firing missiles. the firetail got below your optimal and shot u to pieces

and from what i read everyone gets blobbed once in a while.

dont worry about it as you will start being negative. just get some cheap ships and try again Big smile

Quoting "you will die" in EvE is fail Chars dont die in EvE. Unless you have a heart attack eek.

Throwing ISK at the problem sounds like a bad idea. A surefire way to quickly burn through your remaining assets and escalate your frustration exponentially, until you go broke and quit the game. As the frustration builds it will negatively affect your decisions in combat, more so the more expensive ship you are flying, resulting in its loss. To be frustrated less, you need to care less.

Grab a cheap ship you like, stick with it for a while and pick your fights. Keep the bling for when you get your groove back.

Edit: Stick with it as in, replace it and fly the same fit instead of jumping to a different hull/fit every time you get blown up.

I had been having a completely **** streak then I decided to just get back my roots and started flying rifters again. simple fits not much more than 10mil a pop for T2 and just went out and engaged stuff I thought I had a 50/50 chance against.

Got more kills than I lost as so far going ok....not stella but better than before.

Relax, take a breath and go find out why you have fun and do that Big smile

That is the Way, the Tao.

Interesting forum choice. That being said remember frigate combat is far and away the most technical PvP there is. The fights are over almost before they start. Any mistake in range control or transversal and you are dead. Tiny defined engagement envelopes. And so on. They all add up to far more ticks in the L column before the muscle memory and instincts click into place.

On the bright side, losing 10-20m in frigs a day is easy to finance. So much so that a lot of us lose them by the hundreds over the course of a month.

For my two isk, buy and fit up 10-50 identical T1 frigs of your choice. Then go out and try to lose them in a different way each time. Sticking to one frig let's you identify what you need to change without complicating the issue. Also having a bunch ready on hand let's you get back in the fights while the last fight is still fresh with you.

^^QFT

T1 frig hulls, but don't skimp on the T2 mods, good ammo, rigs, or skills at V. You do not want to minimize an already tight margin of error.

Are you using

- a booster buddy?
- Implants? (even cheap ones)
- drugs?
- an ace in the hole? (like a Falcon waiting in the wings)

because in a lot of cases the guys you are fighting will using all 4 of those especially if they're well established in the area and out *looking* for PVP.

And that last comment is what you need to remember. If you're out looking for PVP and you find someone else out looking for PVP then if you don't have your 4 bases above covered then at least assume tha the other guy does, even if he looks like he's solo.

You'll have better luck (albeit at the cost of a lot more patience) by hunting around for people who are NOT out looking for PVP. Use a prober and look for people running sites and engaged in other forms of PVE.

I know how frustrating bad streaks can be but the good part about them is that they always end. :)

Drop me a line in-game I am always willing to help a fellow soloist out, perhapes you can come join me one day, plently of targets where im at, and first and foremost, I AM A PIRATE YARR

The above guys are giving some pretty good advice, its pretty cut clear almost.

Find a ship you want to fly (T1 frig)
Train skills to max possible to fly that ship
Train all support skills to max
Learn from each engagement
Learn what the current ship your flying can or can not kill
Implants or Drugs, although not needed it can give an edge
Learn how to use your D-Scan almost seems to be a dead art today hahah
Learn to keep an eye on local
Pick an area/pipe line you want to settle in for a few days

Other than that, we all have our ****** days :P

When i am facing a bad streak, i generally go back to a ship that's cheap, and which I am comfortable with.

What you have to avoid at all costs is hurrying back into battle, to break that %§?$£* annoying series of losses. If you start doing things too fast, you will not notice the wildcards, the alt(s), the backup gang waiting behind the gate, etc.

So take that ship, study your target, try to make him show his hand, in other words do it nice and slow, baby.
After you will regain confidfence, you can go back to chain-welping your ships until you get bothered by losses, then rinse and repeat what was written above.

I keep losing Catalysts, but I don't consider those fights losses.

Just take a day or two off to get off tilt. Then fly cheap things.

For me, it's the Vexor I always go back to. Fits my skills, and I'm generally happy to take on any one or two opponents in it, as long as they aren't in active tanked battlecruisers or larger.

Everyone goes through a bad spell. Ive been there. It took flying with a good PVP corp to get back on track, recover my killboard, and get back into the swing of things.

I spent years training up for Carriers and Battleships, but you know what I have ended up flying the most in the end?

Frigates and interceptors.

Pick a hull or two and get really good with that hull. I became the go to tackler for all of my fleet roams, and as a result I got really good with the hulls I chose to fly. Once you become familiar enough with your own ship, start making a mental list of what you can and cannot take on. Successful PVP is largely about having the ability to choose your fights, and not letting them choose you. (Not always possible).

I love my Taranis and Tristan. I may not always win, but I have fun flying them.

Fly what you enjoy.

Dry spells, and losing streaks happen - generally speaking the best way to over come these things is to just take a break for a bit. If you keep on losing ships you will become increasingly frustrated and either burn out even more, or make bad judgement calls because of the frustration.

Try something more casual for a bit. For myself I found the best way to break up the monotony and get my head back in it was to find a nice high-sec system full of miners, and spend a weekend or more blowing off steam by suicide ganking. Once the frustration level is gone, take out really cheap ships and get back to basics; you'll be back to winning engagements in no time.

THIS ^

Suicide ganking is always a fun way to blow off soms steam, and maybe pad your KB just a bit. :D

Cheap ships can be just as affective as the expensive ones. Just ask my corp mate that lost a loki to an Atron several months ago. >.>

I know how you feel man. I suffer from sorry winning streaks, buffered by long lists of fail. I pay for all my pew with loot so things get tight fast. To make myself feel better I like to grab a dessi and hunt down a few rating-frig-noobs.

I don't have any advice, just comisseration.
