i believe it should be quoted by Shakespeare, but nvm.

Absolutely, like saying Derek Zoolander representes the opinions, knoweldge and views of Drake Sather et. al..

It's just one of my favorite quotes that people use out of context, believeing that, for a fiction writer, all characters' sayings must be the view of the author.

"Does the Eagle know what is in the pit, Or wilt thou go ask the Mole? Can Wisdom be put in a silver rod, Or Love in a golden bowl?"  "Above all, you can believe in Providence in either of two ways, either as thirst believes in the orange, or as the ass believes in the whip."

Brevity is... wit.

You're going to tell us a tale of obscenity in speech? Or were you going to tell us a bawdy tale? I much prefer tales of ribaldry.

Like I told you before, you don't know what you don't know. I wouldn't want you to get sleepy.

Borrrrr-iiiing. You must be back on your meds.

Also, the proper citation is neither Shakespeare nor Polonius, it would be:

"Brevity is the soul of wit" (Hamlet II.2.95)

Thread is done, Senators and ESRB written about changing the rating of Eve. Responsible parents don't want their children being harassed and scammed online by a bunch of thugs, which is what the ESRB said when they rated it "Teen." And the effects of these kinds of activities are well documented...

Not for kids.

It rarely does, but at least you're not false advertising.

And when the Mittani or whomever finally kills someone for fun, I'll have letters to Senators and the ESRB showing I warned them. I actually got a cursory response from the ESRB that looks really nice next to CCP's incompetence with people who try to murder players in my letters to Sen. Feinstein and Sen. Boxer.

M helps sales.

AO does not.

Though it is unlikely the latter can be achieved, with Phillip Zimbardo's Lucifer Effect in hand, I hope to make a case for the latter.

We take online gambling seriously in the United States, and we do not allow minors to participate in it.

I'm going to go keep my Sprite Darter Hatchling company now. Whereas I was ecstatic, initially, to finally find a game with serious and complex game mechanics, that was rapidly overshadowed by the apparent psychopathy of its player base.

And, no, you can't have my stuff.

The ESRB is a self regulating body. In other words it's not a federal agency. Your senator(s) can't influence their practices unless they create a federal agency to replace it.

Good luck with that.

Also, please stop your discrimating and inflammatory remarks towards psychopaths. We're a very emotionally sensitive bunch. Pirate

Anyone who follows the news knows where the political winds blow when it comes to cyber-stalking and harassment with intent to harm. There's still some people in the world who have ethics, morals, and values. When something like that happens, you're going to ruin the gaming industry because someone's going to slam a sledgehammer on the ESRB for not taking into account the rules of the game in their rating system.

This game is specifically designed to elicit the worst possible behavior from players - that deserves a rating higher than teen.

I just seriously hope you don't cause a severe clamp down on the gaming industry through CCP's absolutely careless management. There's a lot of really good games out there that get M ratings and I'd hate to see them get butchered in the fallout from some sort of problem associated with Eve's encouragement of sadism in players.

No pun intended.

On my part.

You people are far beyond the pale. I have never encountered an online community so dedicated to cruelty and malice. It's beyond my comprehension.

If you think parents are going to put up with the kind of behavior CCP endorses, you're insane.

There is much needed publicity regarding this game that is being overlooked.

Congratulations, a life-time gamer since Deathmaze 5000 has finally thought the gaming industry has gone too far. Of course, I'm pretty disgusted with games like Hitman, Manhunt, GTA, and those, but at least it's not encouraging that kind of behavior against players.

I'm not a congressperson, I can only write them and hope they do something to protect the nation's youth from people who behave as they do on this game.

On that note, go to hell ******* and goodbye Eve. May angels with flaming swords (lawyers) reward you.

I was fortunate enough to get away from this guy when I was 11 or 12, my memory is fuzzy because I was fully convinced at the time because I was told by my ministers that I was going to burn in hell because he molested me for several years. I don't really have much a clear memory of that time as a result. The unfortunate guy who gave this testimony was his personal sex slave for over a decade:

http://imageshack.com/a/img856/8369/o1ic.jpg

I understand making fun of people because they think 9/11 was a joint effort between U.S. and Saudi interests, not everyone thinks that and it's hard to establish any sort of empirical evidence that establishes that to be true, just a trail of business connections and policy decisions that makes it look suspicious.

But, yeah, child sex trafficking is funny, funniest thing in the world. I can't tell you how funny it is to have a man stick his penis up your ass when you're a pre-pubescent kid.

Do you see how you're a douchebag yet?

Anyway, like I said, I'm not really afraid of being stalked in a virtual game as I've had random people say they're going to put bullets in me and had people I loved assaulted by Semi-trucks and had people intentionally slam vehicles into me while I'm driving and the such. But I'm also not really interested in playing a game with a bunch of psychopaths. Not really a rage-quit so much as an "omfg this game is epic fail" when it comes to how much information about my character's finances I want to provide to data miners so I, too, can participate fully in an unfair market. Also, I've been blown up once, in a venture, when my character had <100,000 SP, when I was in a wormhole, fully aware I would probably get killed. I know it's extremely hard to recover from the loss of a fully insured venture equipped with two Miner I's, 2 mining drones, and a probe launcher, but, as hard as it is to believe, that's not really what's behind me quitting. Usually people rage quit over getting ganked or something, or having their corp ripped off for $16,000, but this is mostly just an "yeah, I'm not playing a game that severely promotes human behavior like this."

Additionally, the very first person with whom I had contact in this game seemed to know a great deal about the religious sect I was raised in and even showed me a site where I could buy professionally made "tinfoil hats," so I suspect that it's frequent recurrence in my brief Eve experience is a little less than coincidental.

Occasionally you'll meet someone who's actually been tortured by a real-life government. In my case, it was because I tried to stop an international child **** ring which, because it was covered up by the top of the religious right of the United States, subsequently accused my of being a radical Islamist terrorist because I'm an atheist who likes Salman Rushdie and Naguib Mahfouz. That person will not take kindly to tinfoil hat references.
