It seems like Blizzard is heading towards their own monoclegate:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/07/05/blizzard-exploring-microtransactions-in-world-of-warcraft/

I wonder if they will be able to pull it off without the harsh response by the community or they will hit the same walls as CCP did. I'm sure in one thing: CCP, now is the time to improve the new player experience as much as possible! Twisted

so a game that already has micro-transactions is going to possibly, maybe, add more. it might even be xp boosts, which will make it even easier to get to the level cap, for those that thought a week was too damn long.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

They are selling currently only vanity items but they are already thinking on xp boost and loot-boost. Its like buying skillpoints or faction ammo in eve.

Those coins are already in game. You get them for killing some mobs, completing quests and other such tasks. It's been in game since the launch of MoP.

This XP boost will change WoW gameplay in what way exactly?

Dont see how it will effect it at all tbh, the people who can lvl fast won't buy it, the people who level slow will buy it. you'll get to the endgame cap and run hc's till you want to smash your pc into thousands of tiny pieces before being called a noob for not knowing every inch of every instance and not being able to complete the final boss on hc ,mode the first time you try it!

Again, who cares? Exp is easy, loot is easy, because the game is made to be easy. Making an already easy game easier isn't going to kill it, it will just give them more income from the people who thought WoW was hard, or have more money than sense.

Even in EVE, it wasn't the micro-transactions that people hated, as much as the fact that it took away from development of the game. As you can see from things like the collector's edition, and fan fest hd streams, the EVE players are more than willing to pay RL money for fluff items and ships.

Posting in a stealth nerf highsec thread. Or is it a goons thread, not quite sure whats going on here and why its in eve-o forums really.

After the patch we're giving the market some gentle supply restriction, like tying one wrist to the bedpost loosely with soft silk rope. Just enough to make things a bit more exciting for the market, not enough to make a safeword necessary.  -Fozzie

I totally bought the pandaren monk when he came out. Stuff like that doesn't bother me. Having played BP, leveling boosts don't bother me either. I level at my own pace and I don't particularly care if someone else wants to pay to get there faster.

Call me when they stat offering superior potions and buffs for a fee for raiding or pvp, then I'll get my pitchfork. Though, I dunno....I quit playing sometime after Cata, it's hard to get worked up about a game you aren't involved with anymore.... *yawn*.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

Yes, this is a perfect topic for the WoW General Discussions Forum.

Nope.

Already been in the game since Cata.

And there's no more ammo in WoW anyway, since it has been taken out in Cata.

The effort is Blizzard trying to get those mountains of alts through MoP, because the game is now getting towards end of the expansion. To sell boxes, they need a mass of players at level 90 to buy the next expansion.

And before all this, during WotLK (the height of WoW's popularity) they had BoA gear to level faster. Today in MoP, there's even more BoAs (missing shields; weapons; cloaks; helms and leg armor). So alts can now have auto-leveling gear (still no intellect plate though..grrrrr).

I'd be really worried about Ace if WoW would die... It is all that is good and healthy in this world after all...

Don't worry about me, worry about EvE.

5.4 is what I've been waiting all for MoP for anyway. Kick some Horde butts right smack in their home city.

Yeah, want to be on that raid 24/7. Twisted

Great read and depicts exactly what I felt whenever I tried WOW. Quest here, quest there, quest everywhere.
Rush rush rush... Oh? I'm at level cap already?

And I even tried to stop myself a few times to make some pics of the surroundings, find out some of the history.

They had some nice ideas, but they completely ruined everything worthwhile by creating a game far too easy and way too shallow.

Any kind of RP is ruined by the fact that they also made it an extremly silly world, culminating in Pandas.

Or the lame BG PVP...

But I truly hope WOW endures a while longer otherwise the market is flooded with people who don't remember what a challenge is anymore.
