Buying a capital

What is the best course of action, when buying a carrier while located in npc null-sec space?

I have been looking at the carrier contracts, which can be picked up on npc stations, and there are non which would be easily moved to my current location.

Is it likely i can get the seller to deliver the carrier to a station of my choosing?, i would be willing to pay the seller some reasonably fee for moving the carrier. The reason i would like the seller to move it, is that there are carriers on sale 2-3 jumps from my current location, but the route takes me through sovereignty space, which may be accessible to the seller.

If i can get the seller to deliver the carrier, would there be any dangers in making a buy contract in the station i choose?, is there any chance of me getting scammed?. I was thinking it would be safe, as long as i don't create the contract on the same character i plan on using as the pilot.

If it is impossible to find a seller willing to move the carrier, is my only option to wait until i find a carrier within safe jump distance?

You do know that you can just buy normal capitals from the market.

Only supercarriers and titans are a special kind, and if you are intended to buy one of those I would highly recommend to use a 3rd party service to make it more secure.

Use a cyno to move it to your home system?

Forgive me if this is a dumb suggestion; I don't know the ins and outs of cyno theory (yet.)

Thanks for the answer J'Poll, i had not thought about them being on the market, seems like the easiest way to buy one.

While its great our are getting one I am concerned that you are not aware of how to even buy one. To me I get the feeling you think you need to jump through gates not cynos just don't want you to be like the people who warp a roruqual to a HS gate because they don't understand it's function.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

I, on the other hand, totally love seeing people do this Lol

This was my initial thought:

With that question, you are NOT ready for a capital. Done.

This is correct.
Carriers, supercarriers/motherships, titans and rorquals can not use gates but have to use Cyno's to move around, thus you cant bring them into high sec (even tho if there is a few located in high sec at the moment that have been there since before the change).
To help with routes i would suggest using a site like this.Might be a better more updated version out there, this is what i used my self when i flew cap ships on a regular basis years ago.

Jump freighters is one of the exceptions since it can both use a cyno, and use normal gates thus you can move it between 0.0 and empire space.

I think more capitals are sold on contracts.

One doesn't have to go to NPC nulsec either. There are plenty for sale in lowsec on contracts.

If you do buy a capital, make sure you can get fuel for it! Most contracts are travel fits that include fuel.

I am aware i may lose it, but i can afford to lose it.

I have no experience in using or buying capital ships and the same goes for jump drives, and the ships that can use jump drives are not exactly cheap. I might also buy a black ops, the more agile ship may be better for trying out the jump drive, but i understand some of the dangers of using a jump drive and making cynosural fields.

I need the carrier for logistics, living in npc null without being blue to everyone around you does limit the size/speed/distance of which you can safely move ships without a jump drive.

Black Frog delivers to NPC null.

Yes, i don't plan to use the carrier for trips to Jita, i'm currently using black frog for the long distance delivery and will continue to do so. Black Frog prices start at around 100M, which makes it's an expensive solution, for moving ship and items around the same region.

I have considered other options, and when it comes to risk/reward it seem like the best solution. I would like to have the freedom to move ship and items, without the delay and cost of using black frog, and i'll learn something about capitals even if i lose the ship on the first jump.

Ok I don't tell people how to play just don't want to see people who make an effort to learn lose something because of a stupid mistake. I wish you the best of luck and hope it works for you.
