Test Server Pathing/Data

My hard drive is partitioned weird and my OS drive has only 1GB free. Thankfully no programs are installed there and only a small amount of programs really cause problems. Most of them, I could configure with a path to a drive with a lot more space. The few I couldn't, I managed to make symlinks (yes, you can on NTFS) to remap the path they would use to the other drive instead- problem solved.

Except with EVE. Now, for the general client, it works fine most of the time, but when it comes to the test server, it loves to bulldoze over the symlink and go back to a real folder then dump > 3GBs of files in there. The folders even have odd file names, like 's_progra~3_ccp_eve_tranquility' which suggests some bizarre DOS compatible file name thing going on. FWIW we're talking about the ProgamData/CCP/EVE folder here, which is awfully hard to 'officially' move.

Is the updater using some really ancient library somewhere with massive backwards compatibility? Is there any way the launcher/patcher can be configured to put it's large files somewhere else (just a path setting somewhere) or at least taught to respect symlinks?
