Mining + War Deck change

Hello All,

Brainstorming here,

Most mining moved to Grav Sites (scanning) - remove most high sec static belts, or make it so the scanned down sites are "near" these belts. Belts should last until depleted or a week has expired.

Allow Corps to put out a Claim Marker - this marker would "claim" all the rocks within some distance, not the entire belt, but a good portion of it (maybe 30%). Anyone mining these roids will be flagged for pvp vs your corp (and fleet?). Claims would be visible on overview, but NOT directly warpable.

Add Hired Gun Contracts - A contract you can put out to hire people to help protect your claim. They get a notice when someone NOT you starts mining it. If they, or anyone within their corp is involved with hostility towards you or your corp, they don't get paid. Doesn't stop neutral abuse or intel, but would help. (You should be able to approve any contract claimer, as you would interview anyone irl, as well as exclude people from applying based on standings.).

War/Raid Decks - having a claim marker allows you to be war dec'ed in 30 minutes, made visible by on screen flash/whatevs to alert you. Decks can be cancelled by abandoning all claims and forgoing mining for 60 minutes.

Benefits to Claim Mining
1) Your jet cans are "secure" no flipping, shooting them brings concord.
2) You gain 3% extra yield to mining roids within your claim.
3) Ability to hire faction military protection (yeah wacky I know, see 2nd line), that is for a fee, you can get Caldari, Amarr, whichever if most relevant to sit and protect your mining claim, and they would even help in war decs(although there should be no standing loss).
4) more? You certainly have risk now, so there should be a nice incentive.

Would love feedback and debate over any ideas here.

best,
AG

ugh. No. get out.

You cannot have 100% safe space. Get that into your head. You cannot remove the risk. There is always going to be someone coming to ruin your day. you don't like it? Kill them, don't try and change the game to make NPCs do it for you.

um learn to read, I am NOT trying to cause more safe places, in fact I am trying to shave 23 hr 30 mins off a war dec. Try again. The NPCs don't keep you safe, they help guard you, big difference.

I love this claim idea. Just anchor claims all over every belt and then demolish every miner who takes the chance. High sec mining would be shut down in a week.

Hmmm... The claim idea is worth some consideration, though I'd focus on the business aspect.

First, setting up a claim should cost a bit and may be limited in a way. So that the typical three-alt griefer corp cannot shut down mining operations in a whole system.

Putting a price tag on claims would also mean that the ore and minerals suddenly get some value besides the time the miner invested into harvesting them as well as the obligation to actually mine the claimed ore in order to have at least the expenses covered.

Maybe large-scale mining without a claim could become a punishable offense (in hisec and maybe lowsec, of course, not 0.0 or WH). So a single person or a corp mining more than a given quota have to pay a compensation (on docking/jumping/whenever) or may get a visit from CONCORD on more serious offenses.

I think that wouldn't impact small-scale miners that much but maybe put quite a crimp on hisec bot fleets.

You could make it so that the claim is only active while the claim owner is there mining.

That would defeat the purpose of the claim altogether. Though I think an unused (or abandoned) claim should become invalid after a certain amount of time. Not very long, one or two days, a week at the very most.... maybe depending on how much someone paid for it.
