The only ships that should provide a bonus to links are command ships and titans, and they should have to be on grid for the links to apply. If people are so worried about command ships being melted in a big fleet, then up the boost bonus on titans to match the command ship and there you go. Bigger tank so it can be on grid boosting in a bigger fight. This is the solution that should happen.
