EVE launcher removed eve.exe

I double-clicked my EVE Online icon on my desktop today as usual, and it brought up the launcher as usual, and ran an update automatically as usual, but then when I signed in on the launcher, the PLAY button was greyed out and unclickable. I closed the launcher and tried double-clicking my shortcut again, and Windows pops up a notification saying the target of the shortcut had been removed, and offered to remove the shortcut for me. I checked, the shortcut was still linked to the correct file folder with all of the game files. But there was one game file missing: eve.exe.

-edit- during the time I was writing this, the eve.exe file seems to have mysteriously re-installed itself to the directory and the launcher is now capable of running the game. Very mysterious.
