Vargur - Viable in Incursion or what?

Why did I never seen a Incursion Vargur so far? None, however much I Googled it, so there it is, what I think could be done...

Vargur don't have a web bonus like the Paladin or Kronos, but it has a 7.5% Tracking bonus (realistically 30% with Marauder IV)/lev as well as huge falloff for first strike hits at long range. Would ideally work better with a remote sensor booster though, but I assume its the same thing with the Paladins/Kronoses out there too, so.

Vargurs are actually on-par with Machs (a tad less DPS, but much better tracking), but while you'll see incursion dudes with 4M SP in Machs, you deffo won't see one in a Vargur.

Usually I run exclusively VG, with a blitz fleet if possible.

I used to have a PG implant and pack 3 Large Energy Transfer Arrays but they rarely get used except to cap chain with e.g. a Nightmare and then 1/2 is plenty. It's better imo to leave logistics to the Logistics. Some will argue that 1 extender is enough but I prefer to have that little extra buffer to give the Logistics extra delay/ jam time. Even then it can sometimes get hairy, in which case the invuls are overloaded.

If you want to spend money you can invest in 2x CN/DG Invuls to lose the additional extender in favour of another tracking computer or a web - but I usually leave webbing to the Lokis/Vindis.

EDIT: I think if you plug in a PG implant you can lose a TC/SB for an Afterburner for the bigger incursion fleets or if the FC requires it.

I run incursions with Vargur too. I have both Mach and Vargur btw.

Cripes why do people try so hard to overtank their ships? That last fit literally uses the same number of slots I use to local tank vanguards, more than a few invulns and a photon is a waste, especially the rigs.

Thank you for the quick answers, was wondering there if I was going to be kept out by FCs if I showed up with a Varg ;)

That being said, looks like good fits up there, with either TC/Web, single Web or single TC, so with the ship's built-in tracking bonus, what would those with experience go with, Tracking Comp/WEb or dual TC?

Unless Tracking Links from Logis makes those redundant, that's some some awesome sauce tracking going on there, though I wouldn't bet my ship's life on it if I end up not hitting frigs at all... Anyone with actual experience on dual TC fits?

Oh, and I am planning to mostly do Vanguards, of course.

What i'd use for incursions.
You'd want to lose a tracking computer and put a sensor booster in there. It will really help marauder's low scan resolution.


Drunk people running incursions, especially logistics, should be immediately removed from the fleet and reported for banning in BTL Pub.
You may be flying a 150mil ISK ship, but i'm flying a 700+ mil ISK ship.

As for the vargur, I would happily take a vargur in any fleet I led. I know that at least if you're flying a vargur, you have minnie BS 5 (unlike a mach pilot, who might only have it at 1). While it does slightly less dps than a mach, the tracking usually makes up for that a little. Again though, you rarely see them for whatever reason.

That being said, the fits here are ridiculously overtanked, and the lack of webs found here is disturbing. Though everyone assumes "hey, someone else will have a web for me", this is not very often the case. Especially if you are rolling with a high end BS fleet (machs, nightmares, etc), there is enough dps there that anyone without their own webs is going to be wasting dps because whatever DOES get webbed is going to suffer from too much overkill. Also, on any battleship, you just plain aren't going to be hitting a frigate unless it is at least double webbed (at least, not for significant damage) unless it is burning in towards you. Therefore, EVERY vanguard battleship should have at a minimum 1 web, preferably 2, so that way you can clear out NCO's when nothing else is available. Also, for the cruisers, in NMC's, you will have enough tracking to be able to hammer them at 20km without webs.

Lowest resist is kinetic at 69, which is more than enough, and both t2 rigs are relatively cheap. Pimp the hardeners/damage mods etc. at your leisure.
