agreed. If that were true, the C Standard Library should be thrown out...

It'd be cool to have the option to use higher res textures and system backgrounds. The ones we see in videos.

It was pretty disappointing when they made the new backgrounds. The ones they showed off beforehand were much prettier than what we ended up with.

Stdlib is not old code. Its a group of standard functions and definitions used to create new code. Like ingredients for a cake. Once you combine them to get a cake that cake can get old and stale. The ingredients will always be fresh.

IMO the only time CCP should start working on an EVE 2 is when the current code and game engine no longer holds up for what they want or need to be able to do.

Thats 5 years ago. Or do you think time dilation is there to improve gameplay rather than save the game from unplayability?

It does both. It saved one of the game's biggest features, the Null-sec Fleet fight. Now to an extent it ruined it(not as mechanically enjoyable) but it definitely saved it in the larger sense of the spectacle of the fight. It also added gameplay in the logistics of reinforcements being more relevant as well as allowing more meta-gaming and more in game tactical thinking.

1) Open a wormhole leading to a new galaxy.
2) Restrict usage to industrial ships, deep space transport and blockade runners
3) Let the wormhole open for 2 weeks
4) Collapse the wormhole forever
5) Let players colonize this galaxy from what they brought : build stations, stargates...

Now you have a New New Eden : Not really EVE 2 but something exciting and new, populated by players who decided to try a new adventure.

Why close the wormhole? Just restrict it to frigate sized ships.

Technically, this is EVE XIX

Blink

Still doesn't uses above 2GB Ram and works on a single thread when our average hardware can handle thrice this with no much effort and 2 YO GC's with techs already obsoleted by newest already cheap.

So you're complaining that EVE is light enough on resources that you can run it on a mid range to low end PC?

Um... why?

A mid range PC with complete tower/screen/keyboard/mouse and sometimes other funky stuff in "zda box" is around 350€

This king of mid range pc has already multicore pross with at least 2.6MHz and 4 to 6 GB od DDR3 HD with over 600GB capacity and GC's/integrated video chips using 42 nano techs and dedicated DDR5 which is more than enough to handle and play in very good conditions latest games on market and provided of course the customer has a good internet connection.

I know, 350€ or £ or $ can be a lot of money for a grand number of people all around the world but I'm pretty sure most if not the entire Eve community players already have this kind of machine available at home and do stuff with.
