Issues, Workarounds & Localization

I was in Rens, with some guy undocking in a Thrasher. He's showing as a war target on my overview. I look at his character info and confirmed he's Amarr Militia (I'm in Minmatar). I get excited because I'm pretty sure I can take him. So I lock him up and open up on him.

Soon as I do that, my ship disintegrates. Security status loss. No insurance payout, and a killmail showing me being attacked by station guns and CONCORD.

I did manage to get the killing blow on the guy, and I check the kill mail to be sure I targeted the right guy. Sure enough, correct pilot. and has been in Amarr Militia for something like 2 months.

Others in system confirmed the pilot in question (still in system) showed as Amarr Militia, and that I showed up as being in Minmatar Militia.

I ticket CCP and they say that he was an illegal target according to their server records. So what about the kill mail evidence showing the contrary? Are kill mails able to be forged then, they can't be used as evidence of a bug? The load of others in local confirming that my client isn't bugged and showing someone as something they are not. Why can't I have my reimbursement for this so very obviously wrongful loss?

Now after having waited something like 7 days for a ticket response to be told no, I can't repetition in hopes of getting another GM who doesn't have their head stuck up their rear.

This is just the reason I quit for 3 years. CCP doesn't give one iota of care about their customers. The support representatives just want to rack up their ticket count and fill their quota for the day with copy and paste responses.

Turns out, it was because my corp was still in the last few hours of some kind of 24hour cooldown. Although the target showed up in overview as legitimate, my safety being set to red, didn't pop up as it would have otherwise despite the color/icon of the dude being a war target. Which honestly I still think is a bug into and of itself. If they're not what they are, then they shouldn't appear to be. IMO.

But whatever, wasn't a huge loss, but the GM could have explained in the first 4 messages. All it took was a simple look at the information at hand to determine the cause and provide a better explanation in the first place rather than deny the ticket despite my having no other knowledge to the contrary that a character showing up as a war target in every conceivable fashion. Stating server log and not actually realizing that my corp had too recently joined Faction Warfare for the orange war targets to actually be orange war targets.

Sounds like laziness to me, or lack of attention to detail. Specially on the side of the developers. How hard is it to make the change-over of showing enemy faction players as valid targets occur AFTER the 24 hour corp cooldown, instead of PRIOR to it actually being the case? As a programmer myself, I can't imagine too many circumstances that would make such a change difficult. Maybe put the case switch in a different order in the hierarchy? Just sayin'.
